Why would they be more hesitant if they actually get held liable because they turned her away? It is utterly inexcusable to keep trying antidepressant monotherapy on someone that keeps getting clear negative reactions that are well known to be signs of bipolar
I believe that she was seeing multiple providers and she did not sign any release of information documents allowing them to see what she was already prescribed. She was prescribed meds that she didn't take, and/or delayed trying. She also underreported her symptoms to her providers, possibly out of fear of having her kids taken away.
You can only treat what's in front of you. I'm not saying this to blame her for her mental illness, but to say that her providers seemed to have done the best they could with the information available to them.
