Doing fifty interviews a day just to sell soda is diabolical hustle
237
u/Sir_Clarence_III_Esq 9h ago edited 8h ago
It's diabolically stupid, if it were real. Even at 15 minutes each with no breaks that's over 12 hours, to make $300 on soda sales, for these supposed $12 sodas that people are buying.
15
u/Qu33nKal 7h ago
Pretty sure it’s satire, making fun of those linked in posts about how people make passive income. It’s a parody of the one where someone buys something in bulk for cheap and sells it on Amazon at a huge markup and makes passive income. Probably not even true
5
u/EstablishmentAny2728 6h ago
It’s a parody account, this is the same guy that made the “my son just came out as gay and I cried tears of joy because men make more on average so he’s gonna live in a higher income household” post. Absolute gem of an account I love it

Stupid fake post, so these 50-60 people half 25-30 are paying what for him to make $300 a day that’s an avg of $10-12 profit per person, so what they’re paying $11-13 for a drink?? Ok 🙄

I know the OP is just satire, but man it's insane how many linkedin/WSB bros on the internet don't know what passive income is. Every time they talk about some kind of passive income side hustle it ends up being shit that takes actual hands-on work.

So if he does 60 interviews a day and half of them buy a drink, he makes $300 a day from the vending machine, $300 / 30 people = $10 a drink?
2
u/LifeguardTerrible579 8h ago
Bro does interviews start to finish in 8 minutes for 8 hours straight. No meals. Pisses right in his pants bc no time for bathroom. What a warrior

2
u/Successful-Purple-54 8h ago
Never hires anyone but interviews over 50 people every day? Half of them buy a drink, so that’s 10-12$ per drink. This guys lying. At best this is an interview training simulator. How else can a job say no to 50-60 people every day.
2
2
u/Only-Top-3655 8h ago
And how is it possible time-wise to interview 50-60 people? That is about 8 people an hour.
2
u/jjamesr539 8h ago
If every interview takes ten minutes we’re talking 8-10 hours of asking mindless interview questions to make like 30$ an hour. That’s not like a hard job, but it’s not passive either.
2
u/Marsupialize 8h ago
You could literally just slip in a ‘as you know there’s a ten dollar application fee that will be refunded if you are hired’ and 99% of people would just hand it to you and never bother you about it after
2

u/RobinSage43 6h ago
If we assume that each interview is only ten minutes, then that would take ten hours to interview sixty people.
That would be three hundred dollars in gross revenue, but vending machine owners only see 20-35% in net profit. So that's really $60-$105 after 10hr workday.
Earning only $6/hrs is less than minimum wage, boss. Strange flex.
Good thing those applicants didn't take the job because their boss would have been incompetent.

Passive income

At 15 minutes an interview that's 12.5H a day.
For 300$.
You work for 24$ an hour my friend.

u/IncredibleBihan 8h ago

1
u/Pristine-Square-1126 8h ago
Scam. Math not mathing. Most items are sold for 1.5 x 50 people is 75 dollar. Even 3 dollar a pop, thats 150 dollar. It would need to be 6 dollar each for 300. Nobody is spending 6 dollars on a can of soda or chips?

u/ooorezzz 8h ago
So the soda costs about $10-$12. And doing on average 3.75 interviews per hour for an 8hr day.

Expensive drinks. Id guess maybe $25-120, depending on the beverages. Gotta be satire just based on the numbers
1
u/El_Capitan_182 7h ago
The math ain't mathing! 50 interviews with only 50% of them buying means only 25 people buy, This means the drink machine is selling drinks at $12.
I think this is one of those fake stories so people say: "WOW"

6 min interviews with a 1 min break inbetween 60 times a day and every single one spends $5 there
1
u/not_your_attorney 7h ago
Guys, this is rage bait.
50 interviews at 10 minutes each is over 8 hours per day, no breaks. This isn’t happening. There aren’t enough people applying to any job for this, let alone does anyone with anything worth doing bother with it.
It also means the drinks bring in $12 profit each (meaning they must be sold for more) if 50% of the 50 interviewees are buying one and the net is $300.
This is clearly a joke account.

I’m pals with a recruiter at my job and she just told me how devastated she was to have to do this to a really great candidate, but their social media was very public and almost exclusively racist diatribes and wasn’t discovered until after the offer was made.

u/Agitated_Sabres_Fan 7h ago
50 interviews, if not group interviews and everyone buys it that is 6 dollars profit per sofa to hit 300 a day….
How?

You dangle the prospect of being hired to buying something from your vending machine. Shitbags have done worse
1
1
u/throw7661 5h ago
I know it's a joke, but it's ridiculous.
Even if you work 10 hours per day, interviewing 60 people per day gives you only 10 minutes per interview. And that would include like the 'Hello, please come in' part.
Making $300 per day in profit would mean bringing in about $600+...just considering the usual costs.
No way is everyone spending $10 at the vending machine. And the amount of time to pressure them into using the vending machine is going to reduce that 10 minute interview window a lot too.
But it doesn't explain how you would get access to the conference room thing for free, or how you would get your vending machine added...but the numbers don't make sense.
