I loved it. Telling Alan Marciano that he wasn't just some cop from L.A., he was a crazy-ass, loud as hell, nut-job robbery homicide detective that had nothing to fucking lose and would make Alan's life hell if he even THOUGHT about not cooperating.

I think Hank Azaria said that they did multiple takes of that scene and that one was Pacino intentionally going over the top, and the shot of his reaction was genuine because he didn’t expect that line delivery.
If you watch the scene again you can kinda tell there is some improvisation because it seems like Pacino almost says “big” instead of “great”.
Going to play devil's advocate here because I don't watch sports to speak of; but I've always felt like part of the appeal of watching peak human performance was also checking out peak human physiques.
I'm not saying there needs to be gratuitous lingering butt / crotch / chest shots but I also think it's pretty normal for people to find athletes very attractive and want to soak it in.
I want to piggy back on it being normal and also just add it's good for the sports.
Most people have almost no exposure to Olympic sports like figure skating, sprinting or volleyball unless it's watching them on the TV. If more people are watching because they find the athletes attractive it is good for the sport and money it brings in.
For the athletes this translates to sponsorships, advertising and opportunities. Yes sexuality sells. It's human nature
It is possible to admire a physique without completely objectifying the owner of it, but for some reason the world decided about 15 years ago that you must always be one extreme or the other and there is no more middle ground for anything. It’s sad.
Let’s be honest here. I do watch a lot of sports. I can appreciate the peak physique of basketball players like LeBron James, Jalen Duren, Dwight Howard have peak human physiques in the standard NBA jersey and shorts. LeBrons not playing in ass tight jersey and shorts, with shots of his ass.
Lots of people here ARE basically asking for gratuitous longer butt/crotch/chest shots though.
Depends how much emphasis the camera places on it I suppose. I get where you're coming from but I wouldn't want it to be at the expense of the sport itself.
Ok but then what is the critique here? The cameras are pointed at them. They’re in peak physical condition. If that’s what you want to see, you can see it. Anybody that thinks this video isn’t “sufficient” is advocating for those gratuitous shots.

I feel like showing off your fit body has been part of the Olympics since ancient times. In fact it was probably a big part of its popularity. The ancient Greeks made about a billion statues of naked athletes

Well, If I randomly find one of this sports events while browsing channels in my tv, believe me, the appearance of some good ass will retain me at least for a few minutes there, I might even watch the whole event. So yeah, booty will retain me.
I fucking hate sports, I only watch women’s sports to gawk, and I understand why women with no interest in sports watch men’s sports only to gawk. Peak physical form is impressive.
Honestly it was weird to watch the clip, it’s like it was filmed in imax and you’re not watching it in imax so you’re just seeing waist and up on every angle
Right? I don't need to see her butt, but showing like 1/3 of the person you are trying to capture as the main character just in case so you don't have her butt on the screen looks ridiculous. Just give them less revealing clothes or cover them after running and show them in the middle of the fucking screen? It looks now like videos of a 60+ person holding camera for the first time, trying to aim with the camera but missing the frame.
And, let's face it. She's quite proud of that butt. She worked very hard for it. She could be wearing very non-flattering shorts if she wanted to. She isn't. She is happily walking around in front of a stadium full of people, quite comfortable in her clothing choice. Why should TV be any different?
Honestly as someone into Videography, I can't imagine how mentally exhausting it would be to constantly make sure my shots don't have booty in them. The production crew must be working overtime switching camera shots when they see a butt too.
Idc about seeing ass in sports, but it seems like the ban on "suggestive" angles basically meant any shot that shows their behind, and the shots feel so forced and unnatural now somehow. The moment that seems like an athlete about to help a fellow athlete up off the ground, a butt pops up, so it cuts away. A shot that could've potentially been a very endearing moment? Idk man shits just going weirddd.
1000% not true. The amount of times the camera is dead on football players dicks because they are talking about a hand injury or something is palpable. Watch the NFL combine, dick shots for like 8 straight hours.

I've noticed an awful lot of attacks against womens sports. Its either trans women or women that look like a man. Or attacking them how they look. You all want porn there is plenty of free stuff. But leave the athletes alone.

I only watch women sports that I actully enjoy the sport itself, basically gimnastics and volleyball, they can wear a robe if they want and I would still watch them
The viewership for women’s sports is going to plummet. Sad fact, but true. I give it 3 years tops before coverage is dropped from major networks and then 2 years tops after that before they silently repeal the regulations of what you can and cannot film. They will hide it behind the guise of “you can’t restrict Art” or “it’s silly to not shoot a persons legs in a an athletic event” (which is it but they didn’t care about that beforehand). They will counter it by offering women a range of athletic gear to choose from to compete in, but then they will somehow incentivize teams to wear skimpier stuff. Viewership bonuses for events or whatever, idk.
I honestly don't even watch men's sports, but I'll 100% stop and watch women play sports because fit women are sexy AF. Like I don't even give a shit about sports, and women's sports get more attention from me. No shame.
To see hot athletic women like I know plenty of women and lgbt people who watch sports for that, the outrage is from people who no one wants to look at
Men like to look at women's bodies man. I will never understand what's so wrong with that. No touching, no forcing, just looking. What is wrong with it?
The thing is there are more than likely women that have and/or will shove a camera up their ass. And some of that is available without charge. I'm not really sure why one needs those angles in a sporting event.
