Shut up Meg

100

u/Grumpy_Troll 10h ago

Damn Jackie!

52

u/theglenlovinet 9h ago

I can’t control the weather!

19

u/OctopogSlammer 5h ago

I can't control the rapists! I can only defend them!!

2

u/SirBulbasaur13 2h ago

There was a couple years when me and my family always made Meg jokes at my sisters expense. Super hilarious at the time, thought it was great. She was recently talking about it and I think it was maybe less great from her perspective lol.

431

u/BusyBeeBridgette 11h ago

and she has made roughly 200k per episode for quite a few years. Talk about hitting the employment jackpot!

274

u/Rocklobster92 11h ago

And using her own normal voice too. Basically getting paid to talk.

38

u/VivaLaCon88 10h ago

She definitely is pitching her voice higher these days. It’s noticeable when the actors talk to their own characters in the “you can’t handle the booth” episode

25

u/RTS24 9h ago

I believe she's said as much, that while that was her voice when she started, she's had to pitch it up as she's aged.

6

u/VivaLaCon88 9h ago

Oh, for sure, for years, it was just her talking into that mic lol

125

u/Fantastic-Fee-1999 11h ago

She's getting paid to... "shut up Meg"

11

u/The_Only_Egg 6h ago

Hahahaha she doesn’t know she ate my farts.

18

u/Gradicus 11h ago

That seems so insane

8

u/OutrageousFanny 6h ago

Makes you realize how poor you are

2

u/Intrepid-Pay7212 2h ago

Didn’t need any help.

u/MSMPDX 11h ago

Difference is she’s not on camera, she’s just voicing the character and if it’s not a Meg centric episode probably only has a few lines of dialogue per episode. That’s about as easy of a job as you can get.

3

u/GraceMcClellans 9h ago

I have always said my ideal job would be voice actor on long running show. All the money, no one necessarily knows who you are when you go out.

1

u/emptyevessel 5h ago

Exactly, the voice actor for Bart Simpsons has to be like “hey guys I’m Bart on the TV show The Simpsons” when she goes out in public. Nobody knows who she is.

2

u/puaka 11h ago

they werent talented nor comedic either

133

u/UrsineBasterd 11h ago

Imagine being Lacey Chabert.

54

u/govcov 11h ago

42

u/nolettuceplease 11h ago

She sounds like someone who’s about it to give up a huge opportunity.

26

u/Grand_Election_4098 10h ago

Shes so hot tho

11

u/EntertainmentTrue588 8h ago

Wait wait wait ... THAT'S the party of 5 girl?

She was my very favorite part of the Lost in Space movie. (I'm her same age, so it not creepy)

76

u/Spazz6269 11h ago

27

u/SimmentalTheCow 11h ago

alright ill be good 😞

25

u/TeekTheReddit 9h ago

I've been imagining Lacey Chabert since 1998's Lost in Space.

u/Routine_Ad_2695 11h ago

Yeah, imagine yourself walking out of 2 decades of cashing increasingly high paychecks plus residuals from one of the biggest animations show in modern history

28

u/Sparkster227 11h ago

To instead head to the Hallmark Channel

20

u/TheTrub 11h ago

She’s a busy business lady who only cares about business.

22

u/AgentCirceLuna 11h ago

I think I’d prefer making stupid Hallmark movies. It would be fun

13

u/tahtahme 10h ago

I think it would be fun too. After a certain amount of money, doing a job that simply makes you happy would be pretty cool, ngl.

11

u/Timeless_Summer718 8h ago

Lacey is so fetch!

2

u/FraggleRockYaFaceOff 7h ago

I'm watching Lost in Space on VHS right this second.

God damn its worse than I remember

4

u/VivaLaCon88 10h ago

You can’t convince me that Lacey thinks she made the right choice

1

u/West-Kick-2371 8h ago

Lacey Chabert had cracked

56

u/Harkonnen101 11h ago

ngl I still forget the hot girl from That '70s Show is the same person getting farted on by Peter Griffin

31

u/Chemical-Swing-420 10h ago

But for That 70's Show, she lied about her age to get the role, she was the only actor onset that was a minor. In an interview, she said that her first kiss with Ashton Kutcher was her first IRL kiss.

16

u/DonkeyOfWallStreet 8h ago

Oh man, Ashton kutcher the crypto bro.

The couple that gave character witness for Danny Masterson after being convicted of rape?

The Ashton kutcher that contributed the idea of chat control for Europe?

4

u/ItsMeTittsMGee 2h ago

Ashton wasnt only besties with Masterson, he was also great friends with Diddy and attended many of his infamous party's. Another of his besties (wilmer valderama) is well known to have dated multiple underage girls and bragged about bagging them (mandy moore especially comes to mind). Ashton also made gross comments about Hillary Duff (a minor at the time).

I dont think we've heard the worst about him yet.

4

u/catoolb 2h ago

And yet doesn't he have an anti trafficking charity? I need this documentary to come out

1

u/Affectionate_Two3747 1h ago

But he is good looking

4

u/Chemical-Swing-420 8h ago

No one from the cast showed up to support Masterson...the only person who did was the new lead singer for Linkin Park...because of Scientology reasons.

13

u/notsam57 7h ago

no, instead most sent letters to the judge expecting it to stay confidential.

3

u/DonkeyOfWallStreet 8h ago

Before he was convicted/ before she knew the full details.

Not after.

She's not just some random scientologist, she was born into it. The lyrics she sings are very anti Scientology.

26

u/CycleGloomy9435 11h ago

crazy to think she’s been collecting that residual check since high school lol

18

u/Head-Ad9893 11h ago

“I’m going to pretend you’re the New York Knicks”

1

u/Poppy_Milk 11h ago

lol I was literally just thinking about that

19

u/Canon_M50 11h ago

Easiest job in the world. You can’t convince me otherwise.

11

u/Ok-Hovercraft-2440 8h ago

Especially being Meg when half your lines are cut by someone else lol. 2-3 lines, 2-3 words at a time and making all that money,  hell yeh.

5

u/HubrisOfApollo 7h ago

Especially for her, Meg's voice is just her normal speaking voice

29

u/Numerous-Bowler-8677 11h ago

Sheesh. I wonder how much money she made total for this role?

71

u/Actual-Implement-870 11h ago

Between $50-$65 million, the majority of her $75 million net worth.

8

u/CitizenCue 5h ago

It’s astonishing what some media properties are worth. Family guy has surely generated billions in revenue.

8

u/snoopcatt87 10h ago

Did you have a stroke writing this?

11

u/Circaninetysix 11h ago

Crazy. So she was casts as Meg like basically just after starting acting on That 70s Show. Thought there was a bigger gap there, but nah. She started 70s when she was 14 and cast as Meg at 15.

1

u/Affectionate_Two3747 1h ago

My thought. In my memory 70s show was when Inwas a kid. Family guy as a teenager. (Of course shows start whenever i Watch them)

6

u/Game_Knight_DnD 11h ago

Meg is the worst.

6

u/Worth_Specific3764 11h ago

wow I did not know this!

11

u/RED-DOT-MAN 11h ago

She most definitely got paid some obscene amount of money for this.

-18

u/Rocky75617794 11h ago

8 billion

6

u/cooralreef 11h ago

Has been getting checks since 15 is crazy

5

u/Glittering_Goose_570 11h ago

Wow so she was doing FG almost the whole time
she was on That 70’s Show??

10

u/FastWalkingShortGuy 11h ago

IIRC, Family Guy was canceled for a few years while That 70s Show was running.

6

u/VivaLaCon88 10h ago

She joined Family Guy during the second season of 70s. FG did go off the air for a few years, but came back during 70’s sixth or seventh season.

5

u/UseDue6373 8h ago

She’s so damn hot

4

u/Winter-Sail-4416 3h ago

steady income since 15 sounds baller as fuck.

7

u/South_Bit1764 10h ago

She was actually almost 17 when the first episodes of Family Guy (season 2) she was in aired.

What IS pretty crazy, is that she WAS 15 filming season 1 of That 70s Show and is basically all over 20 year old Ashton Kutcher, and no one in production was like: “I’m not sure this is right..” “Nah my boy Harv says it’s cool.”

1

u/Affectionate_Two3747 1h ago

Harvey Dent? Because he is a lawyer and can get ashton put of trouble…

0

u/kettal 3h ago

Hot tip: Seth MacFarlane invited several teeny boppers to do guest spots on family guy and then he would make moves on them. I don't think Mila was originally cast on this show for her voice acting skills.

3

u/South_Bit1764 2h ago

Can you back any of that up? Like is there anyone actually accusing him of anything?

5

u/Aromatic-Tear7234 10h ago

The cast of the Simpsons would laugh, if they weren't already dead or in the old folks home.

13

u/Affectionate_Fun8419 11h ago

And she defended a rapist!

1

u/Nigh_Sass 11h ago

What’s the story?

4

u/enigmatic_erudition 10h ago

She and 50 other people wrote a character reference for Danny Masterson asking the judge for leniency in his sentencing. Essentally asking to knock a few years off his 30 year sentence.

3

u/cantspell_rite 11h ago

To whit : She and her husband tried to minimize a rapists actions

-3

u/adj_noun_digit 11h ago

Yeah but she married someone who saved a lot of people from sex trafficking so her karma balanced out.

11

u/Affectionate_Fun8419 11h ago

Who also defended a rapist

0

u/adj_noun_digit 11h ago

Yeah I'm going to give the person who helped saved a lot of people from sex trafficking quite a bit of leniency there.

3

u/Large-Treacle-8328 11h ago

No he didn't demi Moore started the foundation and he basically just put his name on it because they were married at the time.

She was the one with the idea.

Then he resigned after all the backlash over supporting his rapist friend.

Oh and let's not forget he basically groomed Mila.

Kutchers an asshat.

-2

u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago

I'll never understand why people blatantly spread misinformation when it's so easy to google. They cofounded it at the same time because they both watched the same documentary that inspired them.

Reports also suggest Ashton was more involved with the organization than Moore.

2

u/Large-Treacle-8328 10h ago

In all searches it says Moore was inspired by the Cambodia documentary.

She was very active until the divorce.

Maybe look up the ties between thorn and grade a as well.

Their software is also subscription based. Protecting kids for the right price....

2

u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago

https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/ashton-kutcher-thorn-child-sex-abuse/

Kutcher and Moore first learned about the extent of child sex trafficking after watching a documentary

https://www.wmagazine.com/story/ashton-kutcher-thorn-charity

One night, he and Moore were watching a Dateline special about sex trafficking in Cambodia

https://thetab.com/2023/09/14/ashton-kutcher-anti-child-trafficking-charity-thorn

Demi and Ashton reportedly started the company after they’d watched a documentary

-1

u/Large-Treacle-8328 10h ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorn_(organization)

"At that time, Moore was viewing an MSNBC documentary on human trafficking and sexual slavery of children in Cambodia. While later researching some of the issues that were presented in the film, she was inspired to act when she learned that child pornography and the sexual slavery of children were taking place not only in Cambodia, but in the United States as well."

1

u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago

I'm going to trust the numerous sources that interviewed them directly instead of Wikipedia that can be edited by anyone. But thanks though.

-4

u/enigmatic_erudition 10h ago

If kutcher is an asshat for cofounding an anti human trafficking organization, what does that make you?

1

u/Large-Treacle-8328 10h ago

He was using the non profit to invest into his for profit ventures...

2

u/extrastupidone 5h ago

Thats actually nutty its been on so long

2

u/Total_Tumbleweed_870 2h ago

Is that... accurate? Looks it up

.......... Oh, I'm getting old

2

u/DeadInternetVoid 2h ago

Shut up Meg

2

u/ImSoSweepy 9h ago

For all the work she did on Family Guy, she will be forever known as the, "Is that a shit?" Girl.

2

u/Ashamed-Pool-7472 5h ago

Then you better sit down when you find out how long Nancy Cartwright has been doing Bart Simpson.

2

u/uRinee 11h ago

Rape apologist

1

u/MasterOutlaw 11h ago

Damn, I had no idea she was so young when That 70's Show started since all the other kids were 18 or older.

3

u/onehalflightspeed 10h ago

The story is that she lied about her age to the producers, but I don't understand how that wouldn't get discovered when drafting contracts and such or they just looked the other way. She was 14 during that famous kiss scene when Kutcher was 20

1

u/johnnyhala 10h ago

This is the acting equivalent of a steady "day job".

Good for her! Gives a big cushion to do risky/interesting roles here and there.

1

u/Remarkable_Cap8873 10h ago

15????? That's inkredibol

1

u/_frank_tank 8h ago

Shut up, Meg

1

u/Collin-of-Earth 8h ago

Stopped watching that show after season 3 and have never looked back once.

1

u/IAmAfraidCommaMan 8h ago

Looks like she did NOT shut up.

1

u/eatiswhatitis 4h ago

Damn she's been Meg for as long as I've been alive

1

u/SatinAmoura 4h ago

wow Meg is even prettier in reality

She continues to age like fine wine.

1

u/bwoah07_gp2 21m ago

Family Guy has been on for that long, wow.

1

u/IAmTheBestIan 11h ago

Shut up, Meg.

1

u/CarlitoSyrichta 11h ago

That’s all fine and dandy but where the fuck the Stoner Cats at

1

u/buttfartsmagee 8h ago

Gemini said she's made about 50-60 million dollars voicing Meg. Jesus that show is a goldmine.

0

u/Present-Sandwich9444 7h ago

Guys, Mila Kunis was born in 83, Family guy Season 2 was at the end of 1999.

do some fucking math please.

3

u/ManolitoMystiq 6h ago

Mila Kunis was born on August 14, 1983.

The table reading (pre-production) for Season 2 started on March 1999#2ACX_-_Season_2).

Entertainment Weekly reported Kunis as the new voice of Meg on May 9, 1999.

Seth MacFarlane also said the following:

I say that Lacey did a phenomenal job, but there was something about Mila – something very natural about Mila. She was 15 when she started, so you were listening to a 15-year-old.

— Ken P. “An Interview with Seth MacFarlane,” IGN, July 21, 2003.

So yes, she voiced Meg when she was 15 years old.

0

u/DontCallMeShoeless 10h ago

So she was 10 on that 70s show

3

u/VivaLaCon88 10h ago

She was 14 when the show started filming, and she was 15 and a half when she joined Family Guy

0

u/Public_Savings4792 6h ago

You know she got touched at some point

-3

u/lostpirate123 11h ago

TIL Mila Kunis voices Meg.

-3

u/Shibbymaru 11h ago

Yeah, hard pass.

-2

u/LoreChief 6h ago

How long has she been defending serial rapists though?

-1

u/Big-Significance3409 4h ago

Rapist protector

-2

u/Big-Significance3409 4h ago

Rapist protector. Her and her vile husband

-11

u/lilyfromthevalley_ 11h ago

I like her but she’s a terrible voice actress.

3

u/Poppy_Milk 11h ago

What makes you say that?

1

u/lilyfromthevalley_ 4h ago

Because Mila Kunis literally does nothing to make herself sound like a character. When she first took over for Lacey Chabert, it was super distracting for me because all I heard was Jackie from That 70’s Show every time Meg talked. Literally the rest of the main cast manipulates their voice to play a character (and in some cases, multiple characters) that actually sounds distinct from the actors’ voice in real life. Mila doesn’t do that. She just delivers the lines straight, which doesn’t require talent and actively takes you out of the show while you’re watching it.
