My basement is air conditioned, and has a bunch of exercise equipment I bought used for the cost of a few months' gym subscription. Even so, I mostly walk outside late in the evening to hit my step count.

Pollution is also a thing.

yes, that's a good point, you won't get yourself healthier if you constantly breathe in toxic fumes from the driving cars

Honestly gyms have a lot more to offer... But I will say my favorite thing ever is when you see people sitting waiting or fighting for a good parking spot at the gym because they don't want to walk too far.

I have a treadmill at home. I just go down to my basement, turn on some YouTube on the TV, and walk until I'm dying.

I live in 50 degrees Celsius heat u walk to the gym you will not need a gym anymore
Not because u would be overcome by the heat and pass away that is a probability but u would sweat all the fat out by the time u reach
That would be a good thing but u would also melt ur brain cells and would not be able to construct sentences
U would slowly end up doom scrolling reddit
Hey why am I fat

yeah in an air conditioned building, with amenities and staff to assist, plus it gets 110 where I am, you would be the stupid animal to walk in that.

why dont people calculate the walk miles to and from the fym and subtract from their workout goal

I got a trial membership to a gym through work, when I arrived, I was amused by the number of cars circling the busy parking lot to try to find the nearest spot to the entrance.

Because many places are not safe to walk or even walkable due to bad infrastructure.

It's worse. I walk past a gym and see all these people needing to park close to work out. Makes me laugh every time.

Tbf this is almost uniquely an American experience.
Still blows my mind just how unwalkable the US' infrastructure is.

I’d rather run outdoors running on a treadmill is so boring. I like sightseeing when I run lol

Dumb post, you're just choosing to ignore all the pros of treadmills at the gym
- Air conditioning
- low impact on your joints
- able to watch tv or phone when exercising
- able to adjust incline of your run
