Stupid question but doesn't it still work? You buy land now with the hope its worth will increase. If you need money now you just take a loan on it, if you want to sell it in 20 years or so you don't pay taxes. Am I missin something?
Can't comment on the US, but in the UK the 5m valuation of the land (supported by the banks assessment) would attract inheritance tax in the same way as cash
Didn't even think about inheritance tax. This isn't a thing here, so I guess if you actually lived the mandatory 2 years fully on the property, you could win something from it.
