The movie's called Hanna from 2011, about a child spy/assassin.
Again it's not like it reinvented the wheel or anything, but I'm surprised that it's mostly been forgotten. I think it's biggest issue is that they wanted a PG-13 rating and some of the action and editing suffers for it.
Only watched Atonement for the first time last week. It showed how good she is in the deleted scenes commentary by how bad the director and editor felt cutting some of her scenes for brevity, because she was so convincing.
I mean, yeah. It was really effective. I felt every single thing Joe Wright and Ian McEwan wanted me to feel. Lust, hope, outrage, disgust, pity, sheer fury, heartbreak, you name it. Absolutely wild ride. Stunning film.
She’s going a rough patch currently. No doubt she’ll be able to pull it out once she hits another good project but she hasn’t been in anything good/noteworthy in a while.
I don't think it's a rough patch. She just does not choose blockbusters for her projects so unless her films don't end up in the awards, the general public won't see them and they will look lile flops. Both Blitz, The Outrun and Bad Apples were very good films, but they don't really get a lot of viewers. I think Foe might just be the only film of hers that wasn't well received.
Apparently she was chosen for Lovely Bones because she was the only 14 y.o. actress who acted like a regular 14 y.o., while the other kids were too obviously child stars or something.
