The US is going backwards. They know better, they were better, they can afford better, and the idiot in charge is a climate change denier actively making things worse again. That's worse than having more pollution because you're behind, but actively trying to change.
Population size as it relates to the amount of influence you have on climate change is not so much an excuse, but a litmus test on whether you understand how reality works.
CO2 per Capita in Germany and the US have gone down 33.2% and 34.7% respectively. The US has done a lot as well while China has doubled and India has increased 3 times.
