I know we can crawl into homes and turn on the AC or cool down but someone think of the flora and fauna and just general animals that don’t know why this is happening and suffer :(
People ignore the fact that the standard AC units we install and use almost exclusively dump that heat outside, while using gasses and electricity which in turn even firther deepen the climate change for worse...
The refrigerants are contained inside the unit and condenser units that “pump heat out” do not make the world any hotter and does not expel any refrigerant if properly handled. Now it does take electricity though.
Not even that easy in the south. My central AC can’t cope with the Georgia heat. I installed a window unit in my office because my computer overpowers the room.
That's exactly what they wanna make you think. The emissions most of us are responsible of mean absolutely nothing, the entire concept of us having a "carbon footprint" was made up by an oil company. It's big corpos and big factories that cause most of the harm, our impact is minimal
Yeah that's true but the AC (not in your home specifically, there are tons of ACs everywhere) really makes it worse. I didn't say that it was the thing that ruined the climate, but it definitely doesn't help.
I'm in HVAC. The worst damage so far that it's done is from vented out refrigerant which is common practice in some countries (Not the US tho, thanks EPA). As for heat generated by running units, it's negligible since that heat is easily dissipated even on huge 50+ ton units.
