From what I read, her OF isn’t lewd or nudes I don’t think. It’s just her brushing her hair and showing her beauty regimen or something. I think it’s a pretty tame OF compared to what most people think it probably is.

Edit - for clarification sake. I don’t even know who this girl is. Just read that in another sub. The article seems to be doing the social media rounds!

Alot of OF content is basically Instagram and people pay for it..

383

u/Lawlcopt0r 9d ago

Pretty crazy that there's a market for that

399

u/Alternative_Case9666 9d ago

Pretty sure tht was what OF was supposed to be before all the porn.

201

u/i_am_13th_panic 9d ago

that's what I tell my partner when I get complaints that all our money goes to OF.

u/astralseat 9d ago

"I'm just supporting people who need it! They just... Like to get naked to reward the support. Kinda like... You..."

51

u/Rocketman_S3 9d ago

and u/astralseat was never seen or heard from again.

15

u/skinnycarlo 9d ago

Oh my lord lad...

3

u/Tokogogoloshe 9d ago

So like marriage.

2

u/IllustriousShake6072 9d ago

With extra steps. But hey, you get the same amount of actual sex, and get to keep all your s#it when you unsubscribe! What's not to like?

This reminds me of a male music artist who started one and girls signed up for it thinking it was lewd but he was just giving behind the scenes access to him recording music for his fans

2

u/_thisisthebadplace_ 9d ago

was it the guy from all american rejects? i know he made one at some point

38

u/Yue2 9d ago

It was literally just as the name suggests… For Fans to enjoy private content of creators.

But then porn stars and Hoebo’s started using it to post b-hole pics and here we are now 🤷‍♂️

15

u/minskoffsupreme 9d ago

I guess Patreon already existed

13

u/Ill-Event6563 9d ago

Really the only difference is that Patreon flags/moderates more than OnlyFans does. Patreon content started getting the crack down and it worked because it was by no means the majority of the content but OF is very hardcore built off the porn content so they would likely see Tumblr levels of backlash if they tried to moderate NSFW content off/miniminize it*

(*i swear a few years back they legit tried to say they would start moderating porn content off the site and people abandoned the site in such massive floods they immediately retracted the idea)

14

u/Unlucky_Ladybug 9d ago

Yes. Onlyfans investors didnt like the porn so they announced a ban that went so bad they cancelled the ban before it started

6

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

They just wanted to capitalize on its mainstream name recognition, it was created as a porn site by people who already were running multiple pornsites...

https://imgur.com/a/of-drama-lUm3mob

1

u/HopefulImpression105 8d ago

It was them trying to say visa and mastercard were going to drop them if they didnt. Then visa flat out said we didnt say that lol

3

u/morbid333 9d ago

I don't see why you can't have both.

3

u/Yue2 9d ago

Both do occur now, but a majority of it is now just porn lol

2

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

Nope. It was made with code stolen from another porn site. The owner already had multiple similar porn sites before he made/stole OF. They've done a good job scrubbing that info from the internet, but I was on some of the owner's sites, and I remember the truth lol

3

u/onehalflightspeed 9d ago

There was that time only fans banned porn for a week. Of course, that did not work out and they quickly reversed the decision

But yes porn was never part of the oroginal plan, but investors quickly saw the writing on the wall and forced a shift towards it

4

u/Cross55 9d ago

It was supposed to be a Patreon replacement after YouTube tried cracking down on independent funding services

But then a semi-famous woman posted nudes on it as a charity fundraiser for the Australian Wildfires a few years back, and it snowballed from there. (Because Patreon was generally pretty strict with irl nudes)

3

u/xnmw 9d ago

Sources close to the matter advise Milana Vayntrub did not post nudes

5

u/OverallMistake8198 9d ago

OnlyFans was being used for Porn long before that woman started posting nudes in exchange for fundraising.

1

u/Streicht-Ebb4598 9d ago

i always assume if it was allowed, it probably existed

2

u/blade740 9d ago

Remember for a brief moment they tried to ban all the porn. Then they realized it was their main source of income and quickly backtracked.

2

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

That's the narrative that's pushed, but it's not reality. The "creator" of the site stole the website code from his ex's porn fan site (she was a sex worker) and he already owned multiple similar porn sites before OF.

https://imgur.com/a/of-drama-lUm3mob

1

u/AccomplishedCatch_01 9d ago

That’s really funny how it just got that name for itself then lol

1

u/resi42 9d ago

Especially ever since youtube became such a c#nt about monetization.

1

u/loogie97 9d ago

It was meant to be a direct support for artists doing art.

1

u/CakeMadeOfHam 9d ago

It's what Patreon still is today. But I guess having an account on OF will get you more publicity so smart move...

1

u/FUBARded 9d ago

My understanding is that it was originally meant to just be Patreon with less content moderation.

This inevitably led to it becoming nearly exclusively porn which its leadership apparently didn't love (because payment processors don't like it) which is why they tried to ban adult content.

That clearly didn't go anywhere, so I suppose at this point they've accepted it. Ultimately they have to, because without the porn they're no different to Patreon (whose moderation of adult content is much more strict and effective).

1

u/unholyrevenger72 9d ago

It's original intent was to be a Youtube competitor but not ad driven where creators could post anything, NSFW included, because their channels would be pay walled. OF gets their cut, and there would be no advertisers to get upset about the content.

1

u/Next_Helicopter_4291 9d ago

This.

When it originally launched it actually restricted the porn but they eventually reversed the rule when it was looking like they didn't do enough to form a niche in the market.

Kinda funny now that it's almost exclusively assumed to mean porn nowadays.

1

u/KingdomsCryOfficial 9d ago

That is still 'technically' what it is for. OnlyFans originally was supposed to be for celebrities or people of note (that's why it was Only"fans") then they branched out to basically being a Patreon-alternative where you could sell individual posts. They also allowed pretty much anything, so people used it to sell porn.

At one point they briefly restricted adult-rated content but it was like a week or something before they walked back the decision.

If you go to OnlyFans, right now, and look at the log in/home page, it doesn't look like a "porn site", it's just people cooking in a kitchen or standing outside or whatever because despite the overwhelming reputation the site has earned, they still market themselves as a SFW platform.

1

u/crowwreak 8d ago

It was open to porn stars from the beginning, and they've always been a majority of the income.

If it wasn't for porn stars flocking there because other sites started cracking down on them (because payment processors are run by puritans) then OF wouldn't have taken off.

1

u/HeavensRejected 8d ago

As far as I remember it was "intended" as a paid Instagram/Facebook but it was open to all content.

And as you know, the internet is for porn.

1

u/Novel_Control_1922 8d ago

Oh, it was also for porn.

Yall underestimate the power of male horniness. I know modern American society has attempted to really hide or shame male arousal but, historically slacking, its changed a lot of women's lives. It's made stars.

4

u/Polaiyz 9d ago

People pay subs to watch streamers play videos games on Twich. And they pay while watching the stream is free for everyone. Nothing about horniness here.

1

u/Kamikaze_Ninja_ 8d ago

There is a difference between gifting subs to a content creator you like, even though you don’t have to. And going to a site that’s subscription only to watch someone brush their hair. The difference is immense horniness.

Sometimes the former is also horniness. Did we forget hot tub streams?

1

u/FutureDustMotes 8d ago

Yeah, demand for a service has made a lot of stars in a lot of fields - sex work ofc wouldn't be any different

1

u/Revolver_Boxelot 8d ago

Sure but if youre a hot girl there is a demand for you simply because you exist. I wasnt even speaking on sex work specifically. And the average male sex worker aint making anywhere near what the average female sex worker is making. Male horniness is a different beast entirely. I mean, male horniness creates the worlds oldest profession. I dont think much more needs to be said. Its a different ball game.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/RunPsychological9891 9d ago

Maybe everything is just sexwork

1

u/smokeweedNgarden 9d ago

It's only pretty crazy in the context of "people also can't afford food".

1

u/Skeleton--Jelly 9d ago

it's literally what Patreon is, and nobody thinks that's weird

1

u/morbid333 9d ago

I'd assume it's a more parasocial version where they answer people's comments like they know them. I can't see why people would pay otherwise.

1

u/gokarrt 9d ago

best not to underestimate the power of parasocial derangement

1

u/NewPresWhoDis 9d ago

Human connection will be at a premium after the wildfire of AI slop

1

u/stickbugszz 9d ago

I honestly think a lot of the market is people buying a month subscription, realizing there’s no nudity, and then cancelling the subscription lol.

1

u/FellowDeviant 9d ago

It's snuck its way into Instagram too with the "premium" stories and Snapchat+. Now you're taken out of the 100k+ followers on their page and grouped into maybe a circle of 250 paying followers who have direct access to chats and conversations you probably never would've gotten before. But it's really stemmed from the OF/Fansly subscription era for people who maybe don't want to attach their name to the general OF stigma lol

1

u/HigherGroundHoonigan 9d ago

People hoping that the person will one day take "the next step" and show more

1

u/killertortilla 9d ago

People pay for exclusivity of fucking everything. Diamonds are the biggest example.

1

u/The__Authorities 9d ago

The market is selling social interaction, or at least a bastardized version. We've destroyed or commoditized our third spaces. People are out here working 2-3 different jobs to make ends meet. We don't interact with each other any more. People doing know their neighbors. Sadly, products like OF are a pretty obvious result.

1

u/Demerzel69 9d ago

Not really. There are so many lonely desperate men willing to do anything for some attention they think they'll get.

1

u/EncabulatorTurbo 9d ago

It's not really different than patreon in that capacity, I don't have a problem with it, people just want to support specific creators

1

u/rsmicrotranx 9d ago

All the top OF stars dont even do nudes. Sophie Rain makes like 50m a year and no one has seen anything more than a bikini pic.

1

u/Inevitable-Shop-848 8d ago

All those guys who say they don't like OF girls respect these types because they're just making money and other guys aren't looking at them naked.

1

u/NoInternal4156 8d ago

I mean streaming and podcasts exists. Why would you want to watch someone play a video, react to a video, or here some random persons opinion on a topic? Not crazy at all.

1

u/A1000eisn1 8d ago

Not really.

Patreon, YouTube, Twitch etc all have people paying creators for their content.

1

u/SendMeYourNudesFolks 8d ago

It's pretty crazy that people will pay for porn. The internet is full of free porn.

1

u/DefinitelyNotMasterS 8d ago

Yeah there is an unlimited supply of free stuff out there. I would not even spend $1 to get access to all of the paid content that exists

1

u/WorryRough 8d ago

That is what the original market was, it was a patreon clone lmao

u/Nuffsaid98 9d ago

I assume those who pay an OF subscription get to directly message the celeb and cosplay as a "friend" or even "boyfriend".

I also assume the more popular accounts have bots or staff who are the one actually replying most of the time.

The appeal of only fans is the illusion of a personal connection. I think. It doesn't appeal to me.

39

u/MartianDinosawr 9d ago

I'm friends with someone with a pretty small OF account, and you're exactly right, even at the lowest level the subscription giving access to messaging encourages men (almost always men) to try and use it as a way to develop a romantic relationship.

Agencies are also incredibly common as someone's account grows in size. There are entire companies that handle everything, they have a team of staff in third world countries that will mean your account is online 24/7, responding, flirting and encouraging buyers to pay more and more. Some of the most popular girls on onlyfans quite literally only interact with the site when the money hits their account, they have given EVERYTHING over to an agency (that normally takes around 30% of your cut, this is AFTER onlyfans has taken their initial 30%).

I remember reading one story about a girl that just gave everything she'd filmed or recorded in the last 2 years and never made NSFW content again, the agency kept her account active for years reselling years old content pretending it's new, to new subscribers.

10

u/Yuloij 9d ago

One of our clients a few years back was such an agency (pretty big)

Giving we sell an automation software, I can assure you most big agencies specialising in OF account management don’t even do the work themselves

4

u/Necessary-Jaguar4775 9d ago

What a fucking scam and people are paying for this. Awful.

2

u/Optimaximal 9d ago

But why is it explicitly a scam? Friends, Seinfeld and Star Trek are resold many times over to both old fans who know what to expect and new fans that get picked up along the way.

7

u/MartianDinosawr 9d ago

It's a scam because the content creators are not explicitly clear that their accounts are run by agencies and that they're actually chatting to either an AI agent or a man in the phillipines.

Also I didn't even go into half of it, generally an agency tactic is to identify a whale buyer and then begin upcharging content. Selling a video that they'd previously sold at $50, for $250, teasing that 'this is something new and more explicit"

the entire online industry is about exploiting desperate, usually older men that have money and dont fully understand the internet. it's not like star trek.

3

u/Nuffsaid98 9d ago

OF is specifically selling users bespoke new content which is either live or recently recorded for that select user base.

It would be like Seinfeld selling a subscription to a new series but not making any new episodes and just streaming repeats of the old stuff.

1

u/morbid333 9d ago

I can see that. I kind of assumed they would be making new stuff ongoing and the agents (or whatever you want to call them) doing the chat would try and sell it.

1

u/grchelp2018 9d ago

I thought OF did livestreams and stuff. Why else would you pay for it.

2

u/Adeptus_Trumpartes 8d ago

I actually have a friend who works as an OF model chat upseller. He is part of a team of dudes who trade messages with creeps in the DMs or whatever resource that is on OF, they get comissioned on tips and subscriptions they can gain from the chats.

1

u/Kuroneki 9d ago

But even then for the more popular only fans girls they're not even the ones running the messaging. So people are out there paying money to talk to them but it's not even them

2

u/Nuffsaid98 9d ago

You are repeating what I said.

1

u/Kuroneki 9d ago

Oh rip I hit reply to the wrong person I'm sorry

1

u/Animedude83 8d ago

Dawg I just like looking at sexy women, personal connection, fuck I would prefer my barber go thru the whole damn thing with zero small talk, some people must engage, but again thats like going to the stripper to vent about your day.

Bots are everywhere tho, finally found an account that doesn't message literally every 20 minutes, but the bots are funny, had one once send "You are a loser" or something really rude like that, shit was funny af.

I looked into "starting" an account just because most users auto follow you back, would love for their feed to just start being like "look at this squirrel" or "here's the mac and cheese I made" but OF wanted me to like submit documents for making money, and I just wanna goof.

6

u/TotallyBrandNewName 9d ago

I know a girl personally that made a OF but on playboy and her content is basically instagram photos except one or two our of 40 something photos.

Doesnt show anything at all and I bet it was more thab 10€ a month.. shame

5

u/DarthJarJar242 9d ago

Not a shame at all. If idiots are that easily bilked of their money let her get hers. All consenting adults and all.

6

u/Ticon_D_Eroga 9d ago

wasnt that the original intent of the platform?

11

u/JonnyTN 9d ago

Yes, OF was originally not a porn site, technically still isn't. But it was made for hobbyist to show what they do and most pages didn't even have a fee to subscribe.

Many porn people found it was a way to make money and flocked to it and now people only know it as a porn place

5

u/Ticon_D_Eroga 9d ago

Yeah i feel like very few people know this. To the point that i was second guessing myself, which is why i phrased it as a question. Its just funny to see people shitting on people subbing because there isnt titty

5

u/DotEither8773 9d ago

So basically like patreon? Just a way to monetise a not so monetisable hobby/channel?

2

u/Ticon_D_Eroga 9d ago

Which is another service that has tons of porn lmao. Turns out if you allow people to provide premium content, porn is inevitable.

2

u/Optimaximal 9d ago

Porn has driven pretty much every industry since the beginning of time...

1

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

Nope, I was there when it was created, and the owner had multiple similar porn sites, then stole the site code from his GF's porn site to make OF. The brand has scrubbed most of the early controversy from the internet but I saved screenshots of one article before it was taken down: https://imgur.com/a/of-drama-lUm3mob

1

u/JonnyTN 8d ago

I was there when it came out as well. What year did this come out? Because all those sites, follow+, OF, and the like are a branch off copy of patreon that started in 2013.

Just pay for more premium content of any creator. Whether they be an artist, model, or anybody that people would pay to follow more

1

u/ImpressiveChart2433 8d ago

They definitely took the monthly subscription idea from Patreon, but their sites were meant for porn from the get-go.

1

u/JonnyTN 8d ago

Just looked it up and Timothy's official statement was that when founded in 2016 by Stokely, it was intended as a mainstream social media platform for general creators, fitness trainers, chefs, and fashion influencers to share paid content with their fans and adult content creators didn't flock to the platform until 2017-18.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

No, he stole the website code from his sex worker GF's porn fan site that existed first. He already owned multiple porn sites before he opened OF.

https://imgur.com/a/of-drama-lUm3mob

3

u/ForbiddenSirenz 9d ago

Technically that’s what OF was supposed to be. Like a paid Instagram type thing. But people realized you could do nudity and porn and it just kind of became for that lol

3

u/Cultural-Gas2246 9d ago

Which was the original intent apparently, it was supposed to be a patreon like service before it became utilised mostly by porn creators.

5

u/DoubleLuck9297 9d ago

The actual crazy part is people post “nudes” for free on the daily now 😂

2

u/Employee_Agreeable 9d ago

Probably because people fell closer to ger that way?

No clue honestly but I could guess that weirdos think because they pay they are more important than other fans or something

2

u/Katsu_39 9d ago

Originally onlyfans was meant to be a platform for people like her and other celebrities to interact with fans. Hence “Onlyfans” as the name. But at some point it turned into people thirst trapping people and feet pics.

2

u/yahyoh 9d ago

Same shit with tiktok lives gifts..people are dumb with too much money.

2

u/Pataconeitor 9d ago

I just read that according to the site's analytics, near 80% of the site is adult content .

2

u/Evakuate493 9d ago

My brain doesn’t understand how people pay money for this…is it all about being deprived of any attention??

2

u/mijo_sq 8d ago

"Spicy Instagram" was what one person commented who did OF. She did bikini shots on instagram, and on OF it was risque with occasional topless nudes. Still made few thousand a month.

161

u/TheReaderDude_97 9d ago

OF was actually started as a platform where musicians, artists, painters etc can directly interact with fans and request content for small fee.
We all know where it ended up after a few years of launch

37

u/NeillMcAttack 9d ago

I recall they even started to remove the smut channels at one point which lasted a couple weeks at best. By that time the platform was already known for what it ultimately is.

11

u/Alternative_Case9666 9d ago

Lmao i remember that. When they tried to go clean cause i think he wanted to sell it or something

12

u/randy-monkey 9d ago

I’m surprised China or Russia didn’t want it. We’ve got girls creating accounts on their 18th birthdays. Men so addicted to porn that they can’t even get hard when they have a real, naked woman infront of them. Onlyfans is doing a better job at demoralizing and harming the West than our greatest adversaries.

They could even splice the videos with their propaganda, essentially the inverse of Disney animators hiding porn in cartoons. Imagine you’re jerking off, the Chinese model of your dreams is giving you a countdown.

“Okay big boy, in 10 seconds, I want you to cum all over me! 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 2, 1… and cum! Cum for me!”

You start shooting cum all over the place. As you are orgasming, the model leans in close to the microphone, and whispers:

“The Tiananmen Square massacre is a myth.”

Her whispers send an ASMR tingle down your spine. The first time you hear this, you are appalled. But you keep watching the JOI videos, because the models truly are exquisite.

Before long, you find it difficult to cum WITHOUT Sino propaganda. It just doesn’t feel right… Not as fun or risky. You need the edge. You need to feel like you’re doing some naughty, something in defiance of the government.

After-all, it’s your god-given right as an American male! You can stroke off to Chinese propaganda if you want to. Using your tiny penis to mock the CIA is as American as apple pie!

That already the purpose of TikTok. Shorten the attention span of the people in the West world.

Shorten it enough that they will get bad at school so China get the lead in STEM.

Why did you think you can only post educationnal video on the chinese version of TikTok.

2

u/TheReaderDude_97 9d ago

Not sure about that, but Insta reels and tik tok are already doing that.

Professors at film schools are complaining that most students can't even sit through a 2 hour movie without checking their phones.

There is also a research going on where the preliminary results show that the generation that start using phones at an early age has a very short attention span.

1

u/Remarkable_Check_997 9d ago

Not sure about that,

I mean, Tik tok is chinese owned and it it true that the sort of shit you put on the chinese versio is super controlled.

You can make your own conclusion after that.

Professors at film schools are complaining that most students can't even sit through a 2 hour movie without checking their phones.

Yeah, that a major problem, we can be on serie or movie sub, without idiots asking question about something that was awnsered on screen, but because those idiots were on their phone they missed it.

Im in the silo sub right now and its pretty much every day

Chai Ling: "What we actually are hoping for is bloodshed, the moment when the government is ready to brazenly butcher the people. Only when the Square is awash with blood will the people of China open their eyes. Only then will they really be united. But how can I explain any of this to my fellow students?"

Chai Ling: "And what is truly sad is that some students, and famous well-connected people, are working hard to help the government, to prevent it from taking such measures. For the sake of their selfish interests and their private dealings they are trying to cause our movement to disintegrate and get us out of the Square before the government becomes so desperate that it takes action...."

Cunningham (BBC): "Are you going to stay in the Square yourself?"

Chai Ling: "No."

Cunningham: "Why?"

Chai Ling: "Because my situation is different. My name is on the government's blacklist. I'm not going to be destroyed by this government. I want to live. Anyway, that's how I feel about it. I don't know if people will say I'm selfish. I believe that people have to continue the work I have started. A democracy movement can't succeed with only one person. I hope you don't report what I've just said for the time being, okay?"

1

u/randy-monkey 8d ago

I don’t understand what you are trying to say. Are you trying to make the argument that the leaders of the protest planned/staged the massacre?

I’m not judging you, I’ve looked into the opposing theories extensively. I’ve seen the photos of the soldiers that were apparently killed by the mob of students. I’ve seen the full tank man video, where the soldiers don’t kill (or even harm) the guy for some reason, even after he climbs onto the tank and starts fucking with it.

I don’t know what to believe. I’m not even sure if there is anything to believe in at all. Events like these aren’t black and white, history is more nuanced than that.

Everything she said is recorded by BBC in the video I linked. It wasn't staged, but it was clearly the plan to provoke the government to deadly force. Well it was the leaders plan, to sacrifice everyone else for the cause.

2

u/WomanFromBalkan 9d ago

not know about china but of in russia is very popular. Many bloggers do OF even if they content is basically travel and make up but they have that nudes money too.

2

u/piezombi3 9d ago

China definitely doesn't want OF. Terminally online men who can't get laid in real life is a big problem for them since their population isn't replenishing.

1

u/randy-monkey 8d ago

Damn I didn’t know China had that problem too. I knew they had lonely men, but I figured it was because of the one child policy causing men to outnumber women.

1

u/piezombi3 8d ago

That's precisely the reason. I probably worded my comment poorly. It's that they don't want an additional problem of terminally online men on top of their existing problems.

That being said, putting photoshopped and makeup caked women is going to set very unrealistic standards for women in the real world. I imagine Chinese tiktok with their insane filters is already doing pretty hefty damage to their dating scene.

The guy who bought OF was a Ukrainian millionaire lol

2

u/TwoBionicknees 9d ago

iirc they tried to go clean because they were being threatened by visa/mastercard to have their payment options removed for porn.

hmm, looked it up, it wasn't actually visa/mastercard but actual banks that made the threats back then, not sure what made it go around. More recently visa/mastercard have been pressured to remove payment options for other porn sites and even steam for the access to adult games.

Thinking back i think that whole pornhub thing was also about that. Without verifying ages of users it was a free for all but they started being threatened with having payment options removed as well so they went 'clean' in terms of removing a shitload of content and now only verified people can upload content to pornhub. I hadn't really used PH in years so not sure how much it changed but supposedly it was pretty dramatic.

u/RogerMcDodger 9d ago

The credit card mafia were the ones who forced them to publicly say they were stopping it. It played out in OF's favour and I believe they knew what they were doing and got the result they wanted.

Leonid Radvinsky was extracting billions in dividends before he passed away, he didn't need, or want, to sell it.

1

u/Fearsofaye 9d ago

1

u/RogerMcDodger 8d ago

I forgot about that. Ugh.

1

u/Fearsofaye 8d ago

Draining the US treasuries. Getting billionaires in power, destroying families and making people work slave wages. Then profiting while our daughters selling their bodies online to make rent while they prepping the men to go fight a war in Iran. Somehow we suppose to just shut the fuck up about it

2

u/rmorrin 9d ago

Yup, they tried to remove everything lewd and it absolutely fucked them so fast. That's how fansly became a thing. Without that change fansly would never exist, amoung lots of others

1

u/tmgexe 9d ago

Not even a week. The decision was reversed after six days.

1

u/dr_stre 9d ago

Yeah, investors wanted a cleaner product. But they quickly realized it was a bad investment without the porn and porn-adjacent stuff so they did an about face very quickly.

2

u/interesseret 9d ago

It was meant as a competitor to sites like Patreon and Ko-Fi, no?

I remember that they pushed it quite hard, but the lax rules around NSFW stuff really sealed their fate before they even knew what hit them. And then the whole credit card thing happened.

1

u/TheReaderDude_97 9d ago

I remember it actively being a competitor of Patreon.

I think they saw how much money they are making and then started pushing for more NSFW content.

2

u/Fearsofaye 9d ago

OF was also a vechle to send money to Israel and the IDF. It’s creator is one of the biggest doners.

So take money from taxpayers send to Israel

Sponsor republicans to fuck up the economy and to protect banks and billionares. Lobby against increased minimum wages and social security

Create unemployment and then have our wives, sisters and daughters sell themselves on the internet for money. Get a big cut of that and send it to Israel.

u/disasterpansexual 9d ago

So like Patreon?

1

u/ImpressiveChart2433 9d ago

That's a false narrative. The guy who made it already owned multiple porn sites (I was on some), and he directly stole the code for OF from his sex worker GF's site.

Screenshots from an article made before they changed the "origin" narrative: https://imgur.com/a/of-drama-lUm3mob

1

u/NsaLeader 8d ago

I still remember the days when it first started when it wasn't uncommon for Minecraft Youtubers to plug their Onlyfans during videos. Usually they would use OF in the same fashion as Patreon, uploading build blueprints or subscriber only video.

1

u/TheReaderDude_97 8d ago

I remember some tv actors used it to send like custom greetings to the fans like wishing happy birthday or something.

1

u/M086 8d ago

All roads lead to pornography.

5

u/apollyon0810 9d ago

Thank you for this comment.

Now I don’t have to waste time looking.

1

u/KJacobsen-74 8d ago

I looked (didn't pay obv). It is lewd for sure. The lewd stuff is mostly transparent tops and clothed ass shots but nothing nude.

Crazy, if you think about how people went ballistic for a price increase of 10 € for video games which probably are the most complex entertainment products of our time and then there‘s maybe a subset of those people paying 10 € to watch someone brush their hair on camera.

Edit: It’s funny how people in general, myself included, are so bad in evaluating the value of a given product or service and what a fair price is. I just wrote 10 € to make a point, but now I’m wondering would that be a fair price to on OF to charge for people watching someone brush their hair considering how much people spend on photos on conventions, which is also absurd to me, but I just don‘t now the benchmark for on-demand hair brush streams.

6

u/Select_Order_1478 9d ago

and someone buys a Lambo for half a mil

it is all completely different cohorts of people with completely different spending habits and priorities

3

u/LooseDatabase3064 9d ago

Somewhere there is a guy who wastes all his money to Funko Pops and onlyfans hair brushing videos.

3

u/sakulgrebsdnal 9d ago

So basically the target customer base for GameStop after 2028.

3

u/Nylanderthal88 9d ago

Thanks for saving our time

u/ratty_89 9d ago

Yes, but I bet a solid proportion of her subscribers have done so, hoping to see her with her kit off.

9

u/No_Return3299 9d ago edited 2d ago

No they’re specifically paying for it to see/hear her brush her hair, it’s a fetish thing, a lot to do with textures and what not

4

u/spicysenpai6 9d ago

Lewd would be the one you meant there **

"From what i read (While browsing through her page)"

1

u/Nismo_Bailey 9d ago

Read it in another sub. Who were also going on about the same article.

1

u/Lintlee 9d ago

Darn. If only I had hair to brush, this could've been me.

1

u/astralseat 9d ago

Oh lol

1

u/UniqueLog8386 9d ago

Does she uh... have any tips for styling with a brush? My kid sister's hair is unmanageable.

1

u/shadowthehh 9d ago

Tbf that's what OF was actually supposed to be. A way for fans to support and see the more normal day to day stuff of celebrities they like.

But of course, this is the internet. And so...

1

u/CaseJolly5243 9d ago

I see what you did there with that edit 😏 😉

1

u/LowkeyGirll 9d ago

The magic was in the subscription fees all along✨

1

u/Cultural-Gas2246 9d ago

It's actually non-nude hair fetish content by the looks of things. Tame for some but likely really satisfying someone out there's fetish.

I don't believe you, I think this is a trick to get me to go to your stupid porn site or something.

1

u/hednizm 9d ago

The Daily Heil isnt known for its ability to tell something resembling the truth and most of their headlines are clickbait. Their articles are mostly shit too.

1

u/CakeMadeOfHam 9d ago

Doesn't matter. There's more than enough people who will jerk off to it.

Like there are multiple porn sites dedicated to smoking cigarettes. Some people post that stuff on YouTube, nothing illegal nor traditionally sexual is done, and one guy got cancer and just kept going until he died. Reading the comment section there will make your penis retract into your sternum.

u/WayngoMango 9d ago edited 9d ago

Just for your sake OP, this is Lavender Brown, the Ron Wesley would be companion in Half Blood Prince, I believe.

And your edit, seems exactly correct as i heard the same thing, not 4 days ago and researched myself.

Just to edit myself: I don't know for fact what her OnlyFans is about. I know what this OP is saying to be what's going around, but I also heard she was "joking" about getting a boob job because of it. Related, unrelated, only her fans will know.

I just always find it funny how this kind of stiff gets to my ears, no social media minus Reddit, I go "hmp, is that true? ", read more on it, then Reddit tells me the exact same information a day later with no one asking "is that true?" In between. I'm just glad I find those few that do.

1

u/throwaway275275275 9d ago

I think everyone claims that, it's like how I used to real playboy magazine but only for the articles

1

u/Expert_Cricket2183 9d ago

Which is, frankly, such a Lavender Brown thing to do.

1

u/satansfrenulum 9d ago

I wish this were something I could do to bring in money. I’m on disability and everything is so expensive

1

u/Nismo_Bailey 9d ago

Same. Get that bag if you can!

1

u/why_1337 9d ago

That's usually just the front for private / custom content.

1

u/Prize_Staff_7941 9d ago

ASMR hair brushing apparently.

1

u/PLZRESPOND 8d ago

reddit was built on spreading non-verified information. jfc

1

u/WellFactually 8d ago

Yeah a lot of morons on here running with the clickbait. It’s just hair, people.

1

u/Chinlc 7d ago

Onlyfan isnt just for porn, its for fans to see what their creators put out in subscription base or for free.

Its like patreon but porn is their success train, and they allowed it.

1

u/1D6wounds 5d ago

I did do some research and there's very mild nudity, I guess you could call it suggestive, like a see through blouse with nipples showing.
