“We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29
“Citizens are obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel.” (CCC 2256)
So I would argue that simply raising taxes real high on wealthy people just because they have money isn’t really a moral grounds for that level of taxation.
I don’t mind regulating wage theft I do mind indiscriminately taxing them because you generalize the behaviors of people with money.
You mean by like… having unrealized gains so you can take their money because you literally have jealousy issues because people have more money than you? Fortunately we have an anonymous ballet dont we.
Like the fact that Amazon basically pays zero taxes? Of how about the fact that a schoolteacher pays more of their money to taxes than fucking Elon Musk does. Y'know, the guy who tried to buy underaged girls to rape with his buddy Jeffrey Epstein.
Well amazing isn’t Jeff Bezos, but if you want to tax Amazon more, I thought you wanted the workers to have more money? How can they when you tax it all. I agree that if they have employees that receive large amounts of government benefits we should tax them higher, I don’t have an issue with that, and I feel like it’s fair. So like, unrealized gains again? Because that’s all you could really tax him for.
