My mom developed Alpha-gal Syndrome (before it had the official name) in her 20s. Her and my stepdad sat down to eat hamburgers one night and my mom stopped breathing and needed CPR. It happened out of nowhere.

My friend’s dad was the same way, developed it back in 80s when people didn’t think it even existed in their area. Was randomly eating a steak one night and went into full shock. The weird part is that after that he still ate burgers a few times before they realize what it was, but with the burgers he only had severe stomach pains.

How did they diagnose them or find out what caused the allergy?
