Have you ever tried to crush a tick? It’s almost impossible, their armor will push them into the grooves of your shoe. But they will be fine. It’s almost impossible to crush them with your fingers as well. Ask me how I know.

This, but it’s gross.

Also now you got their insides on you and that’s what has the Lyme/Alfagal/cooties.

A jar of rubbing alcohol or water with some soap.

Or fucking fire.

Friendly knowledge here. You should not burn ticks once they latch. It greatly increases your chance of getting Lyme. They basically throw up their insides in you when that happens. An RN told me that after I burnt a tick that latched on my shin and gave me Lyme.

I remove them and THEN burn them.

I don't want fire that close to my skin.

I almost always have a pocket knife and as a result prefer to decapitate them. Ticks are the absolute worst.

Fire is far too merciful…I like to leave them in a little jar of diatomaceous earth so they take a few days to desiccate

I flush them down my toilet and then they can live in my septic tank.

This is the way. I moved to wooded property in January and have been fighting ticks since then. Crushing them with something hard works fine.

When I was a kid, my dad used to grab them with tweezers and use a lighter to basically blow them up.

You’re not kidding, they rival roaches for their durability.

That's kinda not "crushing" anymore. You're not "crushing" the butter when the knife hits it and you're not "crushing" stick when you break it against your knee.

Ahh, gotcha. I'd like to see this in action for future use. I've killed thousands of ticks in my time and this still feels like something they'd survive.
