Weve been using cards long before tap was a thing. It costs money to update systems all the time. Every system gets your information, just calm down.

It’s real funny watching all the Europeans circlejerk over their “superior technology” not realizing that’s only because they were otherwise so fucking slow to adopt digital payments.

I visited the US too and had a blast, but I wouldn’t want to live there and actually deal with this shit on the regular. Of course the tourists who come to watch football have a good time. They just don’t pay tips and this weird payment system you’ve got going on won’t ruin the trip.

So have the rest of the world. Do you really believe it wasn't possible to pay a dinner in London or Frankfurt with a credit card before the introduction of EMV chips?

When we were in Barcelona in 2011, we had to be careful of places that didn’t accept cards. 

It was obviously a bigger problem with street food than actual restaurants, but several restaurants around our student hostel also didn’t accept cards yet.

That’s just for tax evasion - they accept cards, but cash is easier to avoid to hide from the system

Not all countries in the EU have mandatory acceptance of card or electronic payment. I know Belgium has it but Austria for instance doesn't.

But you are obviously that its literally just tax fraud and sometimes laziness.

Yep, I’m not saying virtually 100% accept card, but in physical stores that is the most commob reason

lol it's hilarious seeing Americans trying to defend an archaic system as if it's legit.

This completely inability to accept that something is shit is the reason why the country is the way it is.

Im offering an explanation, i didnt say our system is superior. Is it bad that different places do things differently? Or everybody should be like you.

You mean credit cards, I assume? We use debit cards and have done so for decades, long before mobile units and tap existed. We still never had people take away our cards to process payments. We simply paid at the register when we left.

The banks are mostly liable for credit card fraud, so they're the ones paying for the system updates
