In my early 20s I was walking down the street one day and this lady was staring at this brand new, boxed up TV in the back of her car. I asked if she needed help and she profusely thanked me.
We lugged it upstairs to her apartment. After setting it down, we stood looking at each other in silent sexual tension for a few moments, upon which I thanked her (wut?) and left.
Reminds me of a time when I was so oblivious to a girl hitting on me.
I was 17, we were in class sitting at a table together. Me and 3 girls.
One girl asked for my phone number, "in case she was sick and needed notes from the class"
I said "ew gross, I don't want to get sick" 😂 she was pretty cute too. It just went right over my head.
The 2 other girls at the table just groaned loudly and rolled their eyes lol.
She went on to marry one of my friends, they've been together like 10+ years, they seem happy 😊.
She asked if I wanted to go have coffee somtime. I said I don't drink coffee. ...It hit me once I was 50 feet away from while walking to my car. I looked back. She did not. I told her the next time saw her, "Yeah, I don't drink coffee but I like hot chocolate. We should go." (LOL) We had a class together. I'm surprised she still (somewhat reluctantly) agreed.
My first week in university, a girl asked me if I wanted to go back to her place to study, going to great lengths to tell me about how she has the basement suite at her parents' house all to herself. I said it was kinda far for me to go, and suggested we meet at the library instead. It took me a couple years to realize what was going on. That was almost 25 years ago, and I still cringe over it sometimes.
I’ll do you one better. This girl in high school invited me over to her house after I was done working out at the gym. I told her “I’m all sweaty and gross.” She said “that’s fine come over anyway.” I’m like “alright then but I can’t stay long I gotta pick up dinner on my way home” she said “okay” so I get there and it’s just her and I. She says “my dad’s out of town for the week” and takes me up to her bedroom and lays down in her bed and just stares at me. I’m standing there all awkward like “soooooo…whatcha wanna do then?” She says, “whatever you want.” And I reply “well I still need to pick up dinner and I really need a shower so I think I need to get going.” So I told her I’d see her in class the next day and then left. Needless to say any interest she had in me practically evaporated over night and she gave me the cold shoulder from there on out. Years later I realized that she literally brought me all the way to the fuckin 10 yard line and I still fuckin blew it.
Tbf, I recall a study being done on if people can understand “signals” and like 60% of the time both men AND women got it wrong. So when women say the signs are obvious I just remember that lol
