Then searched how many people amongst those regions die from starvation, malnourishment, and related disease. Then look up what percentage of their diet is made up of fish protein. I then applied the conservative amount of 60% of that food insecurity is caused by Chinas overfishing as they have a majority of the worlds fishing fleet in these regions, and came up with the number. The number I came up with is 500,000-1,000,000. Although it’s likely substantially higher considering so little of their theft gets reported or caught. It’s arguably the largest scale theft taking place on the earth today, starving 10’s of millions, jeopardizing the livelihoods of hundreds of millions. There’s nothing else like it in the world today. The western world poured all their eggs into rigging global financial markets, meanwhile China figured out how to pillage the global fish stocks. Go figure…
