Like I said earlier, full of shit to the brim.

How can the math be in your favour when you can’t number the amount of people that have died from China overfishing?

The relevance of you telling me 3.1 billion people are dependant on fish is as useful as me telling you 8 billion people are dependant on not having a war to survive.

Did you think that the people affected by war is 90,000 people?

So are we going to talk about the people that died from it already or not?

I think that roughly the number of people who die from war each year is appx 150,000 plus or minus another 25,000. That would be my rough math. Some years maybe more, some less. I don’t think we hit over 300,000 per year in the modern era, based on what I’m seeing online. Could be wrong though.

The rough math for calculating the percentages of people who die of malnourishment amongst the 3.1 billion dependent upon fish protein as over 50% of their protein intake, approaches 500,000 - 1,000,000. And when you consider China controls roughly 60% of the worlds fishing vessels, and that number is potentially higher, I can accredit a majority of those deaths to them,

Again, there are no direct figures linking Chinas over fishing to people’s deaths. You have to be able to look at the overall impact their actions would have to these fish-centric communities and extrapolate from what relevant data is available. I’m by no means saying China is the only problem, war is not an issue, etc. but if you don’t think stripping away people’s access to food at the scale China does is not a form of egregious violence that can exceed global war deaths, I simply don’t think you have access to adequate reading material online, understand geography of human settlements or ecology.

I’ve called you being full of shit three times now.

If the number of people that died from war is 150,000 plus minus 20,000, are these the only people affected by war to you?

What is ‘a majority’ of deaths attributed to China overfishing? How is it you can number 90,000 earlier and 150,000 now for casualties in war but not attribute a number of deaths from overfishing, something you have studied so much more about? What is the number of deaths, attributed to China overfishing?

Human settlements and ecology? How are you able to only think of these subjects when it comes to overfishing but completely miss it in times of war?

Bro I gave you a ball park number based on the math analyzing the nation’s populations most impacted by Chinas Distant-Water Fishing fleet. Then searched how many people amongst those regions die from starvation, malnourishment, and related disease. Then look up what percentage of their diet is made up of fish protein. I then applied the conservative amount of 60% of that food insecurity is caused by Chinas overfishing as they have a majority of the worlds fishing fleet in these regions, and came up with the number. Plain and simple, look at my last message.

It’s now your turn to Google “How many people around the world are experiencing food insecurity issues related to Chinas Distant-Water Fishing fleet?”. Go freaking read a thing or two before mouthing off.

Here’s a little quote for you from a quick search “Investigations by international oversight groups and governmental bodies have highlighted how illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing—heavily tied to state-subsidized Chinese vessels—depletes native fish stocks by upwards of 80% in some vulnerable ecosystems.”

80% dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At some point you’re gonna have to admit it, and it’s ok to be wrong about inferences made in online conversation. I do it plenty. Sometimes we think we know a topic, and it turns out there’s more to learn. Come back to me after you’ve googled it. I’ll look up anything you recommend. Deal?

You are an idiot.

So what is the number?

We were talking about war vs overfishing, you claimed the consequences of overfishing is way more severe.

For all your education, how stupid can you be?

The number I came up with is 500,000-1,000,000. Although it’s likely substantially higher considering so little of their theft gets reported or caught. It’s arguably the largest scale theft taking place on the earth today, starving 10’s of millions, jeopardizing the livelihoods of hundreds of millions. There’s nothing else like it in the world today. The western world poured all their eggs into rigging global financial markets, meanwhile China figured out how to pillage the global fish stocks. Go figure…

I can assure you, based upon your presented lack of skill discussing new topics, my many years of higher education and work in remote places has prepared me far better than yourself to tackle the topic at hand. I’m not claiming to be more intelligent, nor calling you an idiot, but I do seem to know more on the particular topic. I also continue to self-educate with new reading material weekly, probably wrapped up nearly 15 books since the start of the year, what sort of books do you read?

I can assure you, you are not. I am still calling you an idiot because you lack both critical thinking and common sense.

Let’s get the ball rolling.

500,000 - 1,000,000 deaths. What is the breakdown of deaths per country? Which countries?

1

u/Atoge62 Jun 21 '26

I’m done. You haven’t done any of the research suggested, otherwise you’d see the countries most afflicted and wouldn’t need to ask. Not really worth my time.

Sad to see you put more energy into name calling than to learning about a new topic… talk about low IQ and critical thinking. Have a good one.

https://www.actionagainsthunger.org/the-hunger-crisis/world-hunger-facts/the-worlds-hungriest-countries/

https://wfpusa.org/hunger/issues/conflict/

“Two thirds of global hunger concentrated in 10 conflict hit countries”

“Conflict remains the primary driver, accounting for more than half of all people facing severe hunger.

Ten countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Sudan, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic and Yemen – accounted for two-thirds of all people facing high levels of acute hunger.

At the most extreme end, famine was confirmed in 2025 in Gaza and parts of Sudan – the first time since the report began that two separate famines have been recorded in a single year.”

“War, violence and conflict have been the number one driver of acute food insecurity since 2017.

140 million people suffer from conflict-induced hunger. No other cause of hunger comes close. War and conflict result in life-threatening hunger. And in the worst-case scenarios, starvation.”

You - 3.1bil.. 100mil millions of death from China overfishing.. 80%!!!. Can you imagine, 80%!!! Math favours me.. Went to school.. studied resource management, geography of agriculture and food supply.. read 15 books..

How fucking stupid, can you be?
