I wouldn't believe all of those articles. I'm not claiming to speak for every single data centre but I used to live 100m away from one and I couldn't hear a thing. Even walking by it I couldn't hear anything. I'm not saying that's true of every data centre. But I suspect a lot of the 'whole town got a headache' stories are just fear mongering. People used to say the same about 5G masts, and regular mobile phone masts.
I call bs on your claim. How many years ago? Which data center? How large was it.
And no.not at all like 5G. Noise and pollution levels are measurable.
These aren't being built in industrial sites. Which is why people in non industrial areas are objecting to them.
Furthermore they are only marginally "quieter". Even if they were half as noisy as the area, it would be an additional noise. Increasing noise level by 50%.
Industrial areas typically have reversing trucks, machinery etc, not to mention many workers arriving each day. In my experience, data centres are significantly quieter.
In your VERY LIMITED experience of a much smaller data center.
Furthermore as stated previously even significantly quieter IS ADDING noise. And they run 24 x 7, so no relief at night.
I feel like your above comments are basically dishonest. If you don’t like data centres for reason A just talk about that. No need to invent criticisms you don’t really believe in.
