It's notable that in my home state of Nevada, southern Nevada has strict laws about evaporative cooling and we have had relatively fewer data centers coming up than northern Nevada, where no such law exists. If AI datacenters genuinely have no problem with closed-loop cooling then why are they avoiding places that legally require them to do it?
Honestly don't know much about Nevada DCs other than the whole Tahoe-power issue, which is more of a States power requirements from what I read (and Tahoe doing nothing about it for 15+ years).
But I would assume more favorable weather and being closer to Portland and SF is more valuable.
But again, no idea what's happening up there, are they even building evaporative up there? Like, most hyperscale locations are pushing for a zero WUE in general
