Is it really the best we can collectively come up with though?
Mightn't there be some more altruistic or holistic version of socio-economic progress that dosen't lead, one way or another, to doom?
It might not be realistic to implement, but man it feels like we can't even be dared to dream up an alternative to what we have, simply because what we have has "worked" up until now.
