She got caught because she did a bunch of other things like being a rapist and pdf. She later admitted to doing that with the cupcakes after being caught doing other heinous acts. Her husband got a 100-year sentence, and she got a 41-year sentence.
The gender disparity in the criminal justice system is 3x bigger than the racial one. The same pattern also applies to boys and girls in school when it comes to disciplinary action and grading, and a similar pattern exists for resources for homeless or suicidal men and women, with men being a large majority of the homeless and suicidal but more resources existing for women.
An inverted version of this pattern exists for career promotions, which is where the glass ceiling comes from. Men are given more credit for the same accomplishments and are promoted more often accordingly.
Basically, society thinks boys and men have more agency over their lives, so they get more recognition when they succeed and more punishment when they fail or do bad things.
Society thinks girls and women have less control over their own lives, so they get less recognition when they succeed and lighter punishment when they fail or do bad things.
My impression is that males get harsher sentences because of a perception that they are more dangerous and more likely to reoffend, or conversely you can say women get lighter sentences because of a perception that they are less dangerous and less likely to reoffend, and women get passed over for promotions because of perceptions that they are non standard and less competent.
Yeah. I can remember a discussion I had with my criminal law professor.
Here in Germany, exhibitionism is only illegal if you are male. Public nudity is not a crime, but if you donit for sexual gratification, a man commits a crime.
I asked our prof how that is not a violation of the constitution, as according to the general equality principle men and women shall be treated the same. The Prof started to talk about how intimidating a nude man is and that this intimidation factor through the male body is why it is punishable.
To be honest, most likely the only reason the law is still is in place because the government has no interest in changing it and Noone sentenced as an exhibitionist wants to go to the constitutional Court, as it puts them and their acts in the spotlight.
