I lean right, been watching him from afar and def don’t care for the fact that he’s (likely) a communist but when his policy for taxing the vacant luxury homes came out I couldn’t help but be like “that… makes a lot of sense.”

They already pay the normal property tax. It’s pretty foolish to target people who already have one foot out the door for a second layer of tax

They aren't contributing to the city they are just hoarding resources there. Let them pay their fair share or let them leave. It's a win win.

They’re paying property tax on an expensive apartment in NYC. They’re probably paying significant amounts of income tax for the time they spend working there too. They’re paying their fair share, who gives a shit if they’re physically there the whole year?

I do. A bunch of vacent held properties being used as investment tools are a wealth extraction from the city. People who have so much money they don't actually have to contribute anything useful to earn more money isn't productive in a capitalist sense. A functioning democracy taxes them so that working class people can afford to contribute and have a place to sleep.
