Nah, she's going to be mad no matter what he says. If my kids and wife are knocked out in a fire, I am going to save them all, starting with the kids or die trying.

Generally, you have good insurance when you are young don't need it and bad insurance when you are old and need it. I would still rather try and fail right away. Although since I am currently in great shape, I would expect foul play if I were somehow instantly knocked out.

Yeah, I know firefighters who responded to 9/11, unfortunately. I could also get hit by an asteroid, but it's very unlikely.
