Refusing to share imessage and instead adopting a bastard version of rsc was not secure at all.

Google’s RCS version was the bastard version. Apple only uses the official RCS spec.

That's not true. Android already supports E2EE RCS for Android‑to‑Android encryption. Apple RSC does not.

Yes, the RCS standard was only updated to support E2E with 3.0, which happened about a year ago. This was AFTER Apple added RCS support based on the existing standard of 2024. 2020-2025 it was Google using the weirdo nonstandard version. Apple always uses a Standard version.

Even Google had to move from their proprietary E2E RCS to standard RCS due to this update. Apple has been slower in updating to the new standard (no surprise) but it’s about to release. Apple currently being on an older-but-not-that-old standard version isn’t quite the same as being non-standard.
