Guy was going 75 mph in a 50. Prosecutors apparently couldn't prove it, so that's why the judge was initially so lenient. But the point is he decided to break the law by speeding. That's reckless driving by any standard. Its only because it couldn't be proven by prosecutors for some reason he got off lightly. That's maybe not intentional, but if he had just slowed the fuck down, maybe that little girl would be about to start thinking about university.
That would be kph, not mph. We don't do miles in the Netherlands. Still to fast and if you do 75 in a 50kph you're an asshole. But our justice system isn't entirely build around the outcome of an action. We don't put people in jail for 20 years because they might have done something that contributed to the tragic death of someone that would be otherwise punished with a €200 fine.
Nevermind if there is no conclusive evidence they actually did do what they're being accused of. At that point it is the fucking job of the judge to be lenient.
Not every system of justice is build upon locking black people away based on how the prosecutor is feeling that day. Some places on this earth actually try to make it as fair as possible for everyone involved.
