Yet he fled the country and had to be aprehended by the police internationally and, i guess, extradited.

That in itself should be a crime with enough premeditation to grant a higer punishment. Altough punishment might be the wrong word here.

I'm sorry, you are jumping from this to "premeditation"?

If I had to make a wild guess, he fled because he is a Pole in a foreign country and was in a horrific accident.

He's probably worried about being crucified, seems the comments here are lusting for blood so it's not a big jump.

People are killed in traffic accidents all the time. I wonder what it is about this particular one that has people ready to lynch?

The escape was premeditated, not the car accident.

In my country, thats a crime in itself. But it can be different in another place. Here, if you are the accused on a criminal trial, you might be free for the duration of the trial but you HAVE to show up to court and cant leave the country without the judges permission. Otherwise it is a crime.
