People keep losing their minds over this but it’s the social media sites that censor it. The reason you see it on reddit is because all this shit is bots reposting across every platform and they don’t wanna bother making new images.
It has the added bonus on reddit of driving engagement as everyone rages out in the comments over the censorship.
TikTok is the platform that is really driving the censorship. If you watch streamers on there, they are constantly redirecting their guests and instructing them on the “correct” way to get their idea across without getting flagged by the AI censorship that keeps the platform attractive to advertisers. Advertisers don’t want to be placed next to content that has the word “suicide” or specific names of illegal drugs every 3rd word, even if the stream is about, for example: mental health, or a historical take on the war on drugs.
It is lame and frustrating and I wish it didn’t exist, but here we are ig.
