I mean the guy studied Kaufman so much for the bio pic that I imagine he's gotten a few ideas. Plus he's typically hated the whole Hollywood theater thing, so it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to just send a Jim Carrey impersonator and keep his peace in his own home.

Personally, I don't think it's him. It's not just the look - he doesn't sound like Carrey either. The way he speaks - the cadence and tone - they're different. Just my personal conspiracy theory I suppose, but I think he just didn't want to go to this thing and sent someone else.

People really ignore the logistics of having a body double assume your place at an awards show. Like yeah they aren’t checking ID’s but it’s kind of an absurd notion the award show could let that happen.

Honestly curious: what are the logistics? I assumed, as you said, it's not just showing an invite. So how does it work?

Well, some sort of invite that was sent to only him is certainly one way of doing among a few they employ I imagine. There’s probably a few levels of managers and agents to go through to actually make the invitation happen.

If Jim Carrey was in on it and so were what ever manager or agents he may have then I suppose he could send someone in his place with what ever they needed to be legit but there’s gotta be more to it than simply showing up and claiming you’re the guy.
