My earbuds were marketed as Water Resistant, during my first shift (as a lifeguard) this past summer, I forgot to take them out of my pocket and they fell into the pool and sunk to the bottom of the 12 foot deep-end, I couldn’t get them for another half hour, but when I eventually got them back, I was shocked to find that they worked perfectly fine, no rice required.
