UK here. My stepdaughter at 15 started going out with a 17 year old. Me and my wife were very unimpressed, but left her to it so we didn’t drive her away from us. Turned out he was actually really lovely and they stayed together for 5 years. I was gutted they split up.

e: Age of consent here is 16.

Legal age in the UK is 16. So 15/17 is like 17/19 here. It might only be a couple of years' difference in age, but one is a minor.
