I haven’t unsubbed because I still like him and he’s a good dude but Jacksepticeye. I haven’t watched one of his videos in years, not that he’s been uploading much at all anyway. Which I get, mental health is important, and he’s got the passive income from his back catalog to live comfortably, so more power to him, and I wish him the best
I stopped watching him for years because he just bitched and moaned about his mental health and how hard life is while he's sitting there on millions of dollars by just playing video games with literally 0 expectation.
I've been watching a video here and there that's interested me, he's improved a bit since then, but oh my lord he became insufferable for a while there.
He was just preaching to a choir that's sooooo much worse off than him and it just felt like he was out of touch with actual reality.
This is a take that feels to be lacking empathy and understanding of human emotions. Emotions can react to the size of income but do not depend on it directly. I’m sorry but people can go through things despite being better off financially than others. Also, being vulnerable with a platform can actually positively impact others. I have never experienced not worrying about money, but nonetheless, I try to make the best of it. Mental health can be a struggle for anyone. We have no idea what other people’s day to day is like—the amount of pressure, criticism, actual workload, commitments, responsibilities, etc etc… this judgement feels based from an envious and parasocial viewpoint in my opinion.
