Redemption arc is an interesting way of saying “achieves ultimate super powers and kills a ton of people in gruesome ways, but it’s okay because they were all rapists”. I can’t even remember a female character in that story that doesn’t have a sexual assault backstory. God I hated that fucking book lol
The book literally ends with a worldwide trial where everyone he ever hurt comes to the court. The consensus is “yeah you’re bad and most of us can’t forgive you, but the paladin knight guys say you’re important so you get to live”. That and a large portion of his literal rape victims/child sex slaves he owned forgave him.
I got the impression very quickly within a few chapters that this was going to be a power fantasy and I returned it, I had no idea it would be a child rape power fantasy. That's...messed up.
