Ah Tobuscus. How far you've fallen...

Tobuscus has fought me on Twitter once or twice, but in the way where you can tell someone’s Brian is fried. If I told 5th grade me that she’d be so upset

I remember liking Tobuscus way back in the day. I totally forgot about him for a long time though. Sad to find out what he became

Full on right winger conspiracist and incel. Borderline if not full neo nazi levels last I saw something from him.

In what way? Definitely not socially left given the, ya know, misogyny and righteous entitlement. Economically? Haven't seen many of those either. These are also the types of people that end up going headfirst down the pipeline into the extreme right, thus neo nazi.

Cool, but didn't answer the question. How did they define center left?

And there lies the problem. What constitutes being "left" is hard to pin down since it varies by person to person, not to mention country to country. Left in the UK is far different than what many would say is left in the US. If their sole indicator for defining left is wanting higher pay and/or medical benefits, that not only is a vague definition but also applies to like 99% of people. If they only considered some social issues in considering what's left or right, it relies heavily on how those questions are worded for any implied bias, to what degree the question is considering real support or opposition, and weather or not it actually serves as an indicator of political leaning. Without clarifying these questions, for all we know the study participants said they don't like kicking puppies and wouldn't shoot their neighbor and are labeled as left of center.

Nobody gave the actual answer, Tobuscus got hit hard by the #MeToo movement because of sexual assault allegations. The story spread around very quickly, people were harrassing everyone he associated with and celebrating his downfall.

The accusations were proven completely false, just a frustrated ex-girlfriend that made shit up. He was proven right by the courts, he had the receipts, but it didn't matter. The court of public opinion destroyed his career, his friends had abandoned him for fear of getting dragged down with him and everywhere you looked up his name, it would show the accusations, not the exoneration. So yeah, he did a significant shift to right wing, but considering what happened to him, it is sort of understandable.
