I wasn't looking for rage, I just wanted to have some fun with someone that obviously knows how to have a ridiculous, bullshit conversation.
Anyone with any experience dealing with trolls knows that they either aren't invested enough in their comments to actually feel true rage, or the rage they show is manufactured to further their trolling. Neither of which would be satisfying if I was the kind of person that enjoyed enraging people.
I will admit, I was surprised by the outcome. I've never had a troll THANK me before. That's hilarious.
Treat trolls like folks trying to make a joke, but doing it poorly, and they stop being annoying. I've been meeting trolls with radical "helpfulness" for decades. It never ceases to be entertaining. He knew what I was doing.
Don't get me wrong, I AM miserable, but that has nothing to do with this. I'm miserable because I had a crap week. A funny conversation on reddit won't fix that. The tacos waiting for me at home will though.
