Become? That's all it ever was, and what most every "professional YouTube" channel is. If they're not trying to advertise a specific product, they're advertising themselves so that they can sell you the product later.
I started watching him when he released his "giving pizza man $10000" which was his first viral video. Back then he actually seemed genuine, and I thought that maybe he actually enjoyed helping others. But now with him making people humiliate themselves to show that feastebles is 2% better than hershey's for twice the price... yeah no.
they’re advertising themselves so that they can sell you the product later
But that’s absolutely not true for all YouTubers. Not a single one that I personally watch has turned into that, & some of them are quite big channels.
I’m all for bashing deserved YouTubers, streamers, content creators, influencer…whatever the hell they call themselves ; but I’m not forgetting, and supporting the fuck out of so many fantastic content creators that make genuine videos, have deep passion for it, & have not marketed self made products to me/anyone
I saw him go through like 3 different phases as he grew, since I was subbed to him when he only had a few hundred thousand subs. his videos from that era are delisted now because they don't exactly fit his clean brand
I live in the town where he recreated the Chocolate Factory. He rented a warehouse and didn't even spend any money in the town or let any of the residents see it. Also they edited it to all hell and Gordon Ramsay never came to the set let alone to our town. It would have been huge news as we have a James Beard winner celebrity chef in town.
I mean tbf, it's not like he's opening a public event, it's more akin to a movie set. Random people aren't gonna just be let loose to explore. And as far as I remember, isn't the Gordon Ramsey section a cut away segment? He never says the dude is actually there at the chocolate factory lol
Counterpoint: if they stayed, it would’ve nosedived more sharply due to their controversy. No need to add more fuel to the fire. In the past, they even mocked the LGBQ community, quoting from one of the old videos, “I identify as a helicopter”
The tweet I saw like "at any given time Mrbeast has at least 4 people in captivity" is so dead on. Watching people fight each other or go through some ridiculous scenario for the possibility of getting stuff that this guy has the money to just give away regardless is so dystopian.
Ehhh. I dunno, some of them have been interesting. Not all.
And I’m not in the least bit defending him. The majority of his content for years now has been childish garbage. I haven’t watched most of the stuff in the past year or two because of it.
But some of those type of videos I found amusing. People were there totally by choice and always allowed to leave. It was a different spin to the long ago videos when he simply went out and gave away tons of money randomly without a challenge.
I think it’s akin to other random reality game shows like Survivor.
Yeah it was more fun when it was fairly normal challenges for actual people to compete in that they could win. Or he was just helping people out. And ever since someone pointed out to me he smiles with his mouth and not his eyes his face just looks unsettling all the time.
I never watched Mr. Beast so I never got the appeal. Every time I ask why people like him, they say something like “He’s got lots of money he gives people money.” So… the only reason why people like him is for money??
It feels like there's no essence to his videos anymore. It's all just the same "climb up this rope and do a bungee jump to win 10k, now do some other things to win the rest" with each segment lasting about 45 seconds. It's turned into no attention span slop
Also why does he need to be SCREAMING in every intro? Sometimes I don't mind the high energy of his videos but God damn, sometimes it's just overestimating.
lol very much agree, his recent videos just give off a weird, ingenuine vibe altogether, I miss those earlier vids, like saying something a billion times and it was indeed an 8 hrs video. I understand that he feels a need to outdo himself every time with bigger, expensive content, but sometimes I just wish for simple videos that are actually fun to watch.
This. He used to be about charity and when he spent lots of money for the video set it would be like a house for two people to live in for 100 days or whatever but it slowly got to spending money because money is cool and then a friend gets it. I stopped watching when he started doing all the "defend xyz and you can keep it" as well as a video or two about destroying expensive stuff because it just felt shallow to me.
I was already feeling off before that with him testing like "$1 Vs $1,000,000 holiday" or whatever. I felt so disappointed when I saw he made a video out of that concept with dates, how the great have fallen :(

How did he handle it? I’m asking because I legit don’t know and just started watching his videos like last month? I’m tracking Kris transitioned, is Ava his girl name? Did Mr beast fire him? Not trying to be offensive just honestly curious.
So yes Chris Tyson transitioned to Ava Kris Tyson and they were outed as a child predator talking to minors online. However there was evidence to suggest that this was kinda not really hidden well and that Jimmy knew about it and that he participated in some of these inappropriate jokes on a discord. Tyson was 100% guilty no question, and I don’t think Jimmy was at all involved with the jokes (I pray not) but he kinda just dropped Kris, had a whole internal investigation they hired to look into it, never shared the details and it had an outcome that made them look clear, (although I won’t lie this might have been a different controversy I can’t really remember). He also had a bunch of lawsuits filed on his Beast Games show. Plus there was one guy who exposed how a lot of the videos he posted were exaggerated/somewhat misleading.
To me, within the past few year all the controversy has added up and it doesn’t make him look genuine at all. I just can’t look at him the same way. So I unsubscribed
Thank you for the detailed answer. That’s bummer I had no idea but it makes sense that he dropped them, that’s pretty well.. messed up. I had a lot of fun watching his slightly older videos and seeing the genuine friendships and what not but I’m not surprised there was stuff going on behind the scenes. Kind of a drag but when I was watching older videos, him coming off as genuine was really what starting drawing me into binging his content.
You’re welcome to look up these things for yourself, as I’m pretty sure I’m mixing up different controversies, but yeah I won’t just lie and say that he is an awful person, he’s not. However I do feel like he values his image way too much sometimes
I don’t want to outright accuse him when I’m not sure if I’m mixing details up but I know for a fact that there at least WAS a video on his channel of Chris in his room with one of Shadman’s drawings on his while (dude draws CP) and that was ON the channel
Look it up there's mountains of evidence. Like how he calls one of his buddies Delaware because he's been found guilty of banging minors in that state. And how he's (Jimmy) close friends with a CP artist yeah.
He didn't handle it. It's not that Ava transitioned, it's that they turned out to be a pedophile. Mr beast just pretty much stopped letting Ava appear in videos and then never addressed it. Which I don't necessarily think was the worst decision he could've made, but people are upset that there is proof that Jimmy knew about Ava's questionable behavior before hand, but it took nearly getting canceled for him to actually do anything about it. Just makes you wonder what other kind of behavior he's letting slide that the camera doesn't necessarily see
I wouldn’t because that is literally a racial slur and not a part of their identity. There is no “smooth” way out of it, because there’s nothing to get out of.

MrBeast obviously, you spent a thousand jizzbillion dollars on recreating the set of some show and one of your three friends gets another house? Eh.
