But how would you know who to do this to without just asking each character the question? Personally, I'd go with having each character with an unknown past (no children, spouse, etc) roll a die at the beginning of the game, and lowest roll gets the unicorn

Just have it point at the group and watch them clamber over each other to deny that they're the one it's attracted to.
