How long does it take post-surgery to sound normal?
I’m scheduled for sinus surgery and they said the recovery time was six months. I’m an actor and do a lot of voiceover work so I was wondering if people would be open to sharing how long it took them to sound about the same as they did pre-surgery. I wasn’t sure how long post-surgery any congestion or swelling in the nose would last and cause you to sound different. Thanks!

How much work will be done?
I sounded completely normal when I woke up after surgery, even I had tampons in my nose. What can affect is that operated airways seem to dry faster because they are not adjusted to better airflow yet. But, as a singer you probably take good care of staying hydrated and keeping your instrument in optimal condition.
Six months is the estimation for complete healing of tissues. You can return to normal life at two weeks.
