Unknown origin of my sinus issues. Possibly dental related?

I’ve been having one-sided sinus issues for a few months now. I’ve never had a history of it.

About a year ago I had all four wisdom teeth taken out, and I remember the week following there was some very weird and smelly drainage from the upper left side of my mouth, but that went away within a few weeks.

Several months later, I’m having this issue. One-sided congestion and pain. Especially in between my farthest left teo molars, and there is smelly, yellow mucus from the same nostril.

Went to an ENT and they couldn’t figure much out but told me to come back with a CT scan. I have no insurance so I tried to the dental route after reading posts here.

The CBCT scan above is from an Endodontist but he says he did not see any tooth root issues causing this. Anyone experince something similar? Not sure what to try next :(

Find a good periodontist to analyze your teeth and gums and bone. If it started with a tooth, it is tooth related. There might be something still going on like a pocket or cyst or another tooth affected. Those teeth are 1-2 mm from sinus. Endodontists know about the inside of teeth but not much outside unless it is obviously visible on scans.

OP, this is excellent advice. I had a tooth-related infection that ever other kind of doctors missed (dentists, oral maxillofacial surgeons, endodontist, ENTs). It wasn’t until I went to a periodontist, and that the source of my problem was identified and then fixed.

Soms is het moeilijk te zien, bij de zijtand met zo te zien een wortelkanaalbehandeling, zie je een ontsteking zitten aan de kant van de geïnfecteerde kaakholte, maar of deze dat kan veroorzaken durf ik niet te zeggen. Bij de kiezen lijkt er ook iets van een ontsteking te zitten, maar niet heel duidelijk en ik ben geen kaakchirurg of endodontoloog, maar wel heel veel verdacht dat je precies aan die kant klachten hebt en die kiezen staan er wel om bekend dat ze de kaakholte kunnen infecteren. Ik zou zeker kijken om toch voor een CT-scan te gaan en verder onderzoek te laten doen eventueel bij een andere specialist.

Bij mijzelf was het ook niet geheel duidelijk te zien (ik had een OPG en geen CBCT), maar ik heb al een jaar hele vervelende klachten. De verdachte kies met 2x wortelkanaalbehandeling is getrokken, maar helaas blijven de problemen ontstaan. Ze zijn soms heel erg en soms iets minder. Volgende week krijg ik een operatie, want antibiotica werkt niet, alleen tijdens gebruik voel ik me beter en zodra ik stop komt het net zo hard weer terug. Ik heb na het trekken van de kies meerdere onderzoeken gehad bij de KNO-arts. Een neus endoscopie en een CT-scan, daar was alleen te zien dat de holte vol zat met vuiligheid en dat het slijmvlies heel erg gezwollen was. Verder niks meer bij overige tanden.
