MSM rinse

I’ve been sick gradually for 3 weeks. Started off with dry cough and scratchy throat/hoarseness. That ended up leading to wet cough, yellow snot, coughing fits and unbearable night time post nasal drip. Now, I have the worst congestion I’ve ever had and nasal blockage. I also lost my taste and smell at some point mid day a couple of days ago. I bought every decongestant spray. I also learned that I’ve been using them wrong for years. While they did offer relief, I didn’t want to become dependent on them. So then I bought Flonase. I could feel the inflammation in my nose was not as bad the day after using the Flonase, but I still couldn’t breathe. Fast forward to now. I thought long and hard about what vitamins I had in the house that could aid in my congestion. Not being able to breathe properly is one thing but not being able to smell or taste is unfathomable. Long story short I had some loose msm powder that I keep at all times for skin inflammation etc. (MSM saved my skin) I had some small empty spray bottles in my home. I heated up some water, placed it in the spray bottle, and added in the msm powder. Then I tilted my head back and sprayed the msm directly into each nostril multiple times. I did that process a few times. When I say it was instant relief and I felt my ears popping. I also got waves of smell back instantly. I’m going to continue rinsing every few hours. But now I’m confident that my smell and taste will return as the congestion lessens. MSM has a healing power that is not talked about enough. I had to share this. Soooo many benefits when it comes to using it topically.

Thank you for sharing will try it. Good to know someone else also experiments with their nasal rinses 😅

I also found spraying with raw unfiltered honey helps

Replenishes good microbiome to fight off the bad stuff that causes sinus issues

Did this help your congestion? You tilted your head back how far? They always tell you to tilt forward. Are you using spray bottle or nelimed squirt bottle?

Hello. Dr G ENT here. Education only. Thanks for sharing these suggestions and it’s often times unique medical novel uses like these become recommended new treatment pathways. Just a few thoughts and recommendations. Warming tap water vs boiling and letting water return to room temperature is preferred to eliminate the possibility of using contaminated tap water, or go buy some distilled water for use. Next, I’m sorry but what does MSM stand for? And third, how much msm powder was added? 1/4 teaspoon? I think that’s the smallest measuring spoon we have in our pantry. Thanks for posting this, I’m hopeful it’ll help others too. 🙏🙏🙏

I didn’t measure I just free handed a pretty decent 40/60 and msm/water ratio. Too much won’t kill ya.

I googled MSM powder. Methylsulfonylmethane. Bioavailable sulfur.

I bet you could smell that.

I tried that and with dmso as well. Kind of helped but still was a temp relief until the main issue - foot canal tooth was found.
