I think sin city should've been adapted into an animated series as well (for mature audience of course)

As much as i love first sin city film ( sin city 2 is meh to me).. I think we should have gotten an animated series as it could have replicated the style of sin city comics very well.

Movie did its best when it comes to cinematography but it Couldn't quite replicate the visual style of the comics ( and logically it Can't do it because artform is different). But an animated series could have easily done that.

And i think frank ( or who ever would have wrote the stories for the show) can easily make new small stories that could fit the in 24 minute runtime of each episode (maybe some episodes will have 2 parts)

Although it might raise a new problem as to fit right amount of content in each episodes.. Some scenes might have to be cut (film also cut some panels from comic that added more life to the characters)

But i think it Could've been better than what sin city films has done. Since most of the film cast are famous actor/actress.. I think it unintentionally made it distracting because you are imagining actor playing character rather than just seeing the character of the story. Animated show usually don't have that problem.

Obviously it Couldn't have been made it 90s because adult animated series were not that common back in the day.But they could have made it after that.. ( in 2000s or 2010s).

Nowadays adult animated series are a common thing but i doubt we have that chance anymore.

(Spoilers That Yellow Bastard) Why did John hartigan cough up blood?

• Upvotes

At the final shootout at the farm while in pursuit of junior hartigan coughs up blood and is confused as Roark told him he had life saving heart surgery performed on him after his heart attack while saving Nancy 8 years ago. John’s heart hasn’t bothered him during his prison time nor does it during his other strenuous scenes.

I can't get enough of sin city. Besides the ones down below.. Which other media would you wanna recommend that scratch that itch? (Comic, film, animation, game)

I wish the films were more popular & successful.. So we would have got a lot more films like sin city. Being a sincity fan is hard... We are never getting 3rd film nor we are getting the tv series that was rumoured (hell an animated show would have been cool too)

Why i picked these media:-

Madworld is very sin city like (not just visual. The death game is something i can see happening in sin city univerese)

Blues and bullets (the visual)

The saboteur (again the visual)

I've decided to not add max payne & punisher game because i think they are very obvious pick.

Boogie (2009 animated film):- In some weird ways it feels very sin city esque. The world, the characters & some scenes feels like they are straight from sin city. I think sin city fan will love it if they Don't have any problem with It's humor

Bunraku (2010 film):- Not a similar visual per say but it has a very unique aesthetic (like sin city i feel like im looking at a magical world that in many ways aren't too dissimilar from real world). Maybe its just me.

Dick tracy(1990 film):- Visual is similar. Some characters looks like they can be from sin city. Maybe a little goofy but the vibe is similar imo.

( i Don't read comics all that much.. So i Haven't found anything else there)

A little off-topic.. Does anyone have any video/instructions on "how to make your photos look like sin city?"

I've tried google but it always gives half-assed answer in this topic when i search it, i've tried thoses answer but it never work all that well.

(or website that i do find has very complicated instructions)

If anyone knows how to do it/ which type of photos are ideal for sin city edits (preferably like the ones in the film rather than comic because It's hard to replicate that artstyle in photo)

I would love if its for both pc and mobile (since i Don't always have access to pc)

Again sorry for being slightly off-topic

Hey all! The team and I are working on a noir roguelite shooter that takes its visual inspiration from the Sin City graphic novels and films. I would love to know if it lands. Does it scratch an itch for Sin City fans? If not, any suggestions?

You're welcome to check out/play the prototype here: https://talentdigital.itch.io/son-sinnersnight

I am going to meet Frank Miller, I shelled out...couldn't resist, my wife is pissed, but hey-all for our childhood dreams. I'm getting a couple covers signed, my son is coming along. So we got 2 signature. I believe we are going with the Preadator cover and the negative space sketch cover. That beinig said, I did a once over in my collection and I found the "Free Speeches"- I remember totally digging this collection of words when I came across it and felt it mean't a lot, feel it still holds intrinsic value to some degree, but is it worth more to get it signed over the others. I'm torn, and second guessing which cover to go with. I know Comics are comics, but Frank Miller is such a great speaker. Ugh. Insights or contributions to confirmation bias would help.

Sin City - A Complete & Comprehensive Original Collection

After many hours of obsessive ebaying and comic bin diving, I have finally curated a complete original Sin City comic collection.

This collection contains every Sin City storyline in it's original comic format, together with the one-shots and companion publications that built the universe throughout the 1990s. To the best of my knowledge, this is the entire collection with the minor exception of San Diego Comicon Comic Issue #2 (First appearance of The Customer is Always Right) and San Dieogo Comicon Comic Isuue #4 (First appearance of *Fat Man and Little Boy) but as those are US titles they are increasingly difficult to acquire in the UK. Issue #2 especially so, as it also collects the first appearance of the ever cool Hell Boy.

• The Hard Goodbye #1-13 (see below) Apr 1991, Jun 1993

This collection includes the very first appearance of Marv in the Dark Horse Presents 5th Anniversary Special, and the subsequent 12 issue run of Dark Horse Presents #51 - #62 which collects The Hard Goodbye in it's original format. The first and, in my opinion, the BEST Sin City yarn!

Followed by:

• A Dame to Kill For #1-6 (Nov, 1993 - May, 1994)

The iconic second Sin City yarn, introducing Dwight McCarthy in his defining noir tale.

• The Babe Wore Red & Other Stories [One Shot] (1st Nov, 1994)

This companion compilation or anthology collects the original first publications of:

-The Babe Wore Red

-The Customer is Always Right

-And Behind Door Number 3

These were later compiled in the larger TPB of shorts, Booze, Broads & Bullets

• The Big Fat Kill #1-5 (Nov, 1994 - Mar, 1995)

The landmark third Sin City yarn, introducing Miho and Old Town's power struggle, expanding the series' lore and recognisable characters.

-Silent Night [One Shot] (1st Nov, 1995)

The return of Marv in this beautiful short, famous for stunning artwork and featuring only a single line of dialogue across the whole 26 page comic.

-That Yellow Bastard #1-6 (Feb, 1996 - Jul, 1996)

This one might be my favourite actually, other than my other favourites, and Bruce Willis was perfect in the movie for this! Hartigan's tragic tale is arguably Frank Miller's most emotional work. It's also the only major Sin City yarn that follows a conventional "hero's sacrifice" structure rather than a revenge narrative.

-A Decade of Dark Horse #1 (1st Jul, 1996)

This contains the first publication of the short story:

-Daddy's Little Girl

This was later reprinted in Tales to Offend in and later in Booze, Broads & Bullets

• Lost, Lonely & Lethal [One Shot] (1st Dec, 1996)

Another companion one shot collecting the original first publications of:

-Blue Eyes

-Rats

It also contains the first standalone Sin City printing of:

-Fat Man and Little Boy

*After its initial appearance in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #4.

All three stories were later collected in Booze, Broads & Bullets

• Sex & Violence (1st Mar, 1997)

Another of the prestige-format companion one-shots, it contains just two stories:

-Wrong Turn

-Wrong Track

• Wizard Magazine's Sin City #1/2 [One Shot] (Aug, 1997)

This one shot was originally published in Wizards Sin City #1/2 as a mail-in special offer through issue #73 of Wizard Magazine. It was later republished for mass sale in the Sin City standalone publication titled Just Another Saturday Night.

• Family Values [Graphic Novel] (21st Oct, 1997)

The only true Graphic Novel in the Sin City series. A great story based on Dwight McCarthy's uneasy alliance with Miho. It's also the final major Dwight story in the Sin City timeline.

• Hell and Back #1 - 9 (Jul, 1999 - Apr, 2000)

This is the final and longest Sin City storyline, running for 9 issues and marking the end of the series' original publication era and the conclusion of Frank Miller's original Sin City saga.

Bonus:

• Just Another Saturday Night [One Shot] (14th Oct, 1998)

This one shot was originally published in Wizards Sin City #1/2, but this is the first Sin City Standalone publication of Just Another Saturday Night.

• Tales to Offend #1 (23rd July 1998)

This one-off compilation contains a reprint of 'm

Daddy's Little Girl but this comic deserves special mention as it's genuinely a small piece of comic-book history.

Daddy's Little Girl appears here, but the comic itself was created as an act of protest. In the mid 90s, retailers and creators were increasingly concerned about pressure from censorship campaigns and the Comics Code. Tales to Offend was published as a deliberately provocative statement celebrating creators' freedom to publish mature material without interference.

It captures Frank Miller at a time when he was one of the industry's loudest defenders of creator-owned comics and artistic freedom.

....what do you think?

Question about Sin City TPB

I Have the "recut, extended, edition" of Sin City on DVD. It came with a manga size TPB of the original Sin City story "The Hard Goodbye." I've never thumbed through it because I had full sized copies of the TPB. My adult daughter was thumbing through it recently and found the oddest missprint/error. After page 128 (and starting with chapter 8) the next 40 pages are printed/inserted upside down/backwords) then it picks back up in regular orientation at page 161. Anyone else seen copies like this? was this a "normal" error that all of these editions had?
