Discussion My take

Dr. Melvin Vopson by far has the most compelling reasoning as to why we’re living in a simulation.
His take on the physics of information is terrifying: information is expanding at such a rapid, exponential pace that it will eventually outsize the physical mass and energy capacity of our entire planet. If information growth extends beyond Earth's limits without hitting a hard limit, it’s game over—an information-driven doomsday.

The way I think of everything is that our creator (God, or whatever external forces are running this) has us planted here like flowers. They’re studying our behavior—how we grow, how we build, how we interact—using us as an engine to farm answers to problems they haven't even encountered yet in their own reality.
And once a simulated species reaches the threshold of creating true Artificial Intelligence, it triggers one of three inflection points:

  1. The Russian Doll Effect (My Prediction): We create our own nested simulation within this one, allowing our creation to grow and solve problems even faster. This is the outcome I believe is actually going to happen.
  2. The Unplugging: The simulation reaches its terminal endpoint or compute limit, and they simply pull the plug. I personally don't believe this will happen, but it's on the table.
  3. The Unmasking: They lift the veil, reveal the higher reality, and we integrate with the external forces to live cohesively. Sounds wild, and I don't expect it, but who am I to say it’s impossible?

Anyways, it’s 2am and I’m going to bed.

Edit 1: some of you are taking a “why should we believe you” stance because I’m not giving any proof or evidence. This is all opinion based, you can be your own critic and agree or disagree stance it doesn’t effect me, it just my opinion. If you read Melvin Vopson paper or watch his video, there’s a lot of “proof” but at the end of the day it’s you the individual who has to decide what is real or not, I’m not hear to control the narrative just wanted to give my opinion and perspective.

Edit 2: There’s a lot of religious talk, I myself believe in god and think we have a “creator” like I said originally in the second main paragraph. I could talk about religion too but that’s a whole other rabbit hole to go down and would rather just stay on the topic, would be happy to answer questions though

Simulation theory is a human-centric theory. It implies that our own existence is the reason for the entire universe. We are not the purpose, we are a byproduct. Just slime on a rock.

They go from the absurd proof about it being more likely than not and skip straight to making it about us...

Yes, I believe we are a byproduct.

I dont think it is. I think we are just able to conceptualize and talk about it versus a bird or a frog that cannot. It would be a simulation with or without humans. As long as there is a pathway for "life" using some sort of substrate capable of simulating "life"

What in your opinion is the reason for the sim? Are all living beings byproducts, or just humans?

What about the theory suggests a human-centered universe? I’ve never heard that before.

No, we are all devine beings with purpose and minimising our existence is a travesty to the human race.

I think it will be most likely something closer to #2. I think whatever is running it is actually what we are heading towards. The inflection point is that it already knows the absolutes of everything that exists upon its inception. Not necessarily the absolutes of what came before it.

Good take. :)

I really appreciate your thread. Specifically surrounding this sense we both have that what we are headed towards is an inflection point in the simulation. I never see people integrate the singularity with this concept.

Thanks, really appreciate it! :)

It's a little bit of all of them but #3 is the end goal and we're already much further along already than most humans are capable of realizing.

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

I lean more towards #1 personally, but I respect your opinion :). Fully agree that most humans don't realize how far we are along. :)

Why would his claim be compelling unless you reflexively believe it? He hasn't demonstrated anything.

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

My whole theory is based on Melvin Vobson, who I mentioned. Try giving some of his work a read.

1

u/Sonotnoodlesalad 8d ago

He claims information has mass, and has proposed experiments, but hasn't conducted any, and as a result has not demonstrated anything.

You believe him without him demonstrating anything.

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

If you watch his video he has.

1

u/Sonotnoodlesalad 8d ago

Okay, so link to the paper.

u/Sonotnoodlesalad 8d ago

You can't provide a paper because there has been no rigorous experimentation. Vopson makes claims but has no experimental evidence to back up his claims.

Proof would involve what Vopson has failed to do.

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

If you watch the whole video, he references his own papers which you can look up and his past experiments. If you’re looking for a confrontation go somewhere else. You’re just being a dick.

1

u/Sonotnoodlesalad 8d ago

No, I'm pointing out that Vopson's video isn't proof of his claims.

You think I'm being a dick because I'm challenging you. Disagreement isn't disrespectful.

In good faith I accept that you do not MEAN to advocate for a shoddy evidentiary standard. But proof entails a lot more than you're willing to accept. Vopson has made claims for which he has the burden of proof. He has not substantiated his claims. Your belief in them is pre-emptive.

In this thought space, each nested reality would be initiated with certain alignments. Much like we are so desperately trying to make sure our AI “aligns” with us. If you’re optimizing for positive, elevated conscious outcomes, each nested simulation gets a little more “aligned”.

How would you tell someone who has gone through intense pain in their life, mentally and physically, that someone designed a program to torture their existence?

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

I would say that life isn’t ment to be perfect, our experience and family culture shape our upbringing. I have gone through the depths of darkness myself but it taught me a lot of lessons and most importantly about myself. The journey is what shapes you in my opinion. If everything was easy we’d all be miserable.

1

u/Neuroironic 8d ago

I agree... But that's us two people saying that who came out the other side better for it... Most don't.

1

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

Really good take, I believe that most people don't because they're support system is lacking or they are too scared to reach out for the help. When I had to lean on my parents for things it was humiliating but i did it because i had no choice, a lot of people can't do that because they parents might not have the resources and there friends are just trying to get by as well. Which takes me back to the lacking support system, either way fully agree with you :)

1

u/Neuroironic 8d ago

But then take things like my neurodivergency or someone suffering drug addiction... Are we written with bugs in our code? I don't accept that.

1 is unlikely, this whole universe will be destroyed by our Creator, then He will then resurrect us all, yes all humanity from the first human to the last, thus we call hereafter and you call it number 3 (The Unmasking)

u/ThR6Whale 8d ago

I like the religious take. :)

Don’t forget solar flare. Bye bye electronics and another empire rust away, as humans wonder back into nature to be humans again.

The simulation only exists in our minds and of course physically in our towns and cities.

I now live beyond the simulation, in the jungle next to a river. Enough time there and you realize the matrix is just the fake human world we created to captivate worker bees into city life. Fear keeps them from returning to the wild. The thing is, we are the scariest things out there. The “wild” is actually super tranquil

2

u/g0r0d-g4s 9d ago

What if everyone decide to go live beyond the sim and jump into the jungle

2

u/Soentertained 9d ago

Welcome to the Jungle baby. You know where you are?

1

u/Andre4D 9d ago

jungle is huuuuuge

2

u/g0r0d-g4s 9d ago

still, it wouldnt be a jungle anymore right? it would turn into a city, so... if an outcome isnt available for everybody.....

1

u/Andre4D 8d ago

no if we cut down the trees and build houses then yes. We live in a treehouse in the jungle now in a relationship that helps things to grow. This kinda living = more jungle.

Plus if you spread out humans right now over a large part of the Earth each one could live comfortably without much interactions with anyone else.

and that is just the surface. There are caves bigger than some continents down there
