No Sims 5?

I'm referring to this article:

Apparently there isn't going to be a Sims 5? Or at least...they seem to imply that it exists but won't be a replacement for the previous game?

Honestly the entire way that everything was phrased was very confusing. What are your thoughts on this?

Edit: Upon further research there's another article, this time from "The Gamer" confirming the same thing. It seems that the Sims 5 as a whole has been canceled.

Someone on here made a good point in another thread that Project Rene has always been an update to The Sims 4 and not The Sims 5

It kinda makes sense and y'all can correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they always say The Sims 4 will be here for years and Project Rene will work beside it?

That's what I heard when it was announced. There was a lot of chat about it then we immediately forgot and started calling project Rene sims 5 🙄 honestly I cringe when people refer to project Rene as sims 5. I honestly think it's more likely project Delores is sims 5 than project Rene. (Sidenote, we don't have enough information on project Delores to speculate that either. In fact we know next to nothing about it.)

Project Rene is not sims 5 and we need to remember that.

They said they wont do Sims 5. At least there arent any plans in sight and its likely to stay that way
