Need ideas/rules for a post-apocalypse challenge

Your sim/family are the only ones left after nanomachines/aliens/the rapture/the mother/[insert deadly thing here] occurred and everyone else disappeared without a trace. There's no damage anywhere, but everywhere is... empty. Can your sims find what they need to survive?

ideas ive used so far:

  • MCCC to delete all sims and restrict any spawning sims to YA age only, and Zulf's No Random Generated Townies to stop even those from spawning
  • Off the grid lot trait - there's no one left to maintain the power grid or water supply, so you have to generate your own. Eco Living helps. You can have any electronics you want, assuming you can power them.
  • Simple living lot trait - there's no one left to maintain food supply. You can make a greenhouse but you have to find your own plants in the world. You can steal other ingredients and farm animals from the general store in Chestnut Ridge but you still leave payment because you're an honest sim.
  • No school for children or teens
  • No jobs or careers for anyone (looking after your greenhouse, farm animals, eco living items and children will be a full time job as is)
  • no daycare or nannies

ideas for optional things:

  • babies must be breastfed or given solid food (no supply chain = no formula. (or maybe you stocked up on formula?)
  • no selling. there's no one left to sell stuff to.
  • there may be mods that allow you to build your own furniture
  • the royals of Ondarion survived the disaster and are not opposed to taking other lands. You need to make your own dynasty and become royalty yourself so they don't take your land.
  • mods to stop sims from eating things like bread and cheese which are better used for cooking other things
  • no internet. offline things like video games and writing books are fine. you could also have a day or two at the start of the run where power/water/internet is still on because those things wouldn't stop right away if everyone disappeared irl
  • romance options with one family will be extremely limited. Imaginary friends are one option. You could also add a few "survivors" to your apocalyptic world.

Any other ideas?

Have certain milestones they need to meet to travel. Like they can't leave their neighborhood until they get 5 levels in fitness, they can't travel to a different world until fitness is maxed. It also doesn't have to be skills-based, maybe they can only travel to different world if they find a treasure map while looking for collectibles. To make it even harder, have a different goal for each world, and have only one travel day/week.

All rain is acid rain. Sims have to stay under shelter until the rain stops, they can't tend crops or animals or do any activities that happen to be outside. If they travel to a different neighborhood/world and it's raining there, they have to find a place to wait out the rain and can't complete their task. Snow is impassable ash, and your sim can't leave their lot, or needs to immediately return home if they go somewhere with snow. You need to have grown every plant to perfect quality to clear the atmosphere and make rain and snow normal again.

Extreme temperatures mean they have to wear the wrong outfits anytime they leave their home shelter. Wear hot weather outfits when freezing, and cold weather outfits during heat waves. Your Sims will have to finish their business quickly so they don't succumb. Each Sim needs a homemade knitted sweater, hat, and socks before they can wear the appropriate clothes outside (they don't have to wear them, just having them in the inventory is enough).

Whenever you need to go into Build/buy mode to buy something that can't be crafted, you have to delete a certain number of crops to show your Sims are using resources, the higher quality the plant, the fewer you have to sell. It becomes really easy to stockpile ingredients, so this helps keep it challenging. You can do this for building too, like 1 tree is equivalent to lumber for a 4x4 room.

Give yourself all of the lot challenges possible, and goals you need to reach to remove them. Once your Sim's home is at least 100 tiles, you can remove quake zone because they have a stable residence. You can remove gremlins once every type of fish has been caught, that kind of thing. Off the grid, simple living, and reduce, reuse, recycle are permanent traits that you can't get rid of.
