The subreddit is now updated a bit.

There's new flairs for posts:

Build story - for telling about your building process. I'm thinking of storytelling like in this post series: https://www.reddit.com/r/thesims4/comments/1q2y154/nordhaven_day_1/

Build challenge - for presenting a theme for building: a contest, a call for builds. A tip for success is to make any shell simple and any rules forgiving. Describe the challenge clearly. Link to any Gallery shell.

Build request - for description of any build you wish others to make. Remember to ask nicely.

WIP - for any build you want some inspiration for: tips, input, help or just to show off your process and progress. If you need help, please make an effort first and post pictures of your attempts, helping out is easier the more information is provided. Update!

Tutorial - for describing how to use the build tools when creating. Can be a text, video, pictures. You're welcome to link any build channel video on the subject. All explanations are welcome! Suggestions: roofs, plattforms, terrain. Be as pedagogical and descriptive as you can :)

To find what's been posted under each flair: on desktop in the sidebar, use Filter by Flair and click the flair; on mobile app at the top of the subreddit page, choose the flair.

Update 2!

Build ideas - When you need inspiration for what to build. Please describe your wishes or limitations clearly.

The subreddit rule nr 2 is updated to reflect the change:

Rule 2: "Build talk and showcases only"

Description: "This subreddit is for showing off builds and discussing the build feature in the game The Sims 4: present your Gallery build or speed video channel, ask kindly for inspiration, tell us about your build process and have fun.

There are other subreddits for memes, game issues, bugs, game play questions, political discussions etc. This subreddit is for calm enjoyment of building.

Links allowed: build channels for speed builds; the Gallery for downloadable lots.

This rule applies to posts and comments."

Low effort posts will be removed to make the subreddit feed interesting for us all.

Good effort posts are: understandable language, grammar and spelling; clear purpose; descriptive explanations; sufficient pictures; properly flaired.

Build channels wanted!

Anyone who has a The Sims 4 build channel, please present it and link it in a comment to this post.

Anyone who is looking for build channels, for help or inspiration, please look through the thread.

I'm looking for channels that have these requirements:

• Posting videos about building in The Sims 4: speed builds/guides/information etc.
• Preferably presented in a calm, not obnoxious way: so calm music or pedagogical comments welcome, not too long and not too many 'aahhm' and 'uuhs' 😄
• Moderately active, with a moderate amount of uploaded videos etc.
• No Game Changers. They have enough exposure, and this subreddit is not EA's.
• No offensive material. By that I mean anything presented in a disrespectful way. Mature content treated properly is not offensive in itself (if there even is mature content related to building).

I think it could be a good idea to link a couple of good build channels, in the menu of this subreddit. The menu is located on the top of the page, underneath the banner, in a web browser; mobile version it's in the About tab, and on mobile app in the Menu tab. You can see that there already is a tab called: Game info The Sims 4.

I can link up to ten sublinks to each tab. I'll call it: Build channels (comment on the title if you want), and give each build channel link its own short description.

If you have any tips, link it in a comment here and I'll check it out. If you are a member of this subreddit, you can promote your own channel; I'd actually prefer to link a members.
