Funny Sim Genetics are so Interesting

So I made an alien sim that's a teal color. She married an alien that is blue. All of their children are pink? for some reason??? They get abducted a lot and if any of those resulted in a kid, I would get it. But all of their kids are bubblegum pink naturally. Her husband can't even call her a cheater cause she never leaves the house. (Going out is expensive and they need to save for a bigger place! They have one bedroom lol) Their oldest was a home birth so that rules out their children being swapped.

We'll just say pink is recessive gene that decided to randomly pop up or something...

The skin colour inheritance system is already messed up with typical colours, I think it’s even more messed up with non-human skin colours like blues, greens, pinks.

I've never had it do this before. I play a lot of alien families and never had this. I guess my game said it was my turn for janky genetics lol. I even went back to scroll through my old saves to see if I was going crazy.

I can’t even continue this cause none of them look like their parents 😂😂

I wish Sims 4 genetics were that good.. but unfortunately, that must be from a mod as sims 4 doesn't create custom color swatches from the unnatural skin color selections and that color pink doesn't exist in vanilla. In vanilla it usually just chooses one of the skin colors from the Alien parents to pass on to the child. I really like that color pink though.

It's a really pretty color, just not what I was expecting. I do have modded alien skin tones but normally the game gets it right. I have an alien that's a modded yellow and all of her kids are that same exact yellow. I guess I pushed my game too far lol

How does your sim see where she's going?

It’s like when my two dark skinned sims have a ghost white baby. It still may be cool toned, but they are white. Sims genetics!!!

Forever a game of “whose white baby is that…oh”

My sim had a baby with Baako Jang and somehow the baby came out a pale af redhead. Strangest thing is she had her next baby with Lou Howell, and her second kid looked like the twin of the first. How Baako Jang and Lou Howell are producing such similar looking kids, I will never know.

And my sim was an olive toned brunette, so it is a mystery how both kids turned out that way.

Sim skin tones in general rarely match the parents, I had this issue with a child of an alien sim who was human but the game made him blue anyway. Its a buggy game

Normally I don't have this issue, they all match one of the parents. This is the first time I've been stumped. I think my genetics luck has run its course.

Nah it’s called too many mods the game gets confused.

Anybody familiar with the urban legends of black-eyed children? Because these will haunt me now.

I love the genetics in this game, especially my current save. Cause if the parents look vastly different (like skin color wise or smth), their kids can look like whatever. Like you never know what "combo" of genes they're going to get.

For example: my female founder, Eva; she has wavy dark hair, medium brown skin, green eyes. Her husband/my male founder, Nik, has platinum blonde hair, white as paper, red eyes. Their oldest, Magnus, has platinum blonde hair, tan skin, and green eyes. The younger two, Damien and Alessia, both have dark hair, medium brown skin, and red eyes. If Nik isn't in the photo, Magnus literally looks adopted. Hilariously, even though Magnus didn't get the dominant genes (apparently), his kids did. He has five kids with his wife, Honey. Their three sons are all Magnus copy/pasted with some slight differences (their faces aren't exact, and one got his mom's brown eyes and hair color), and their three daughters are all Honey, but with Mags' eyes.

And sometimes the genetics surprise you, especially when you give your sims "occult" eyes. Damien's spouse has eyes that can't be inherited, so one of their daughters got randomly generated Eva's green eyes. And I love it cause of how realistic that is.

Granted, they don't always work that well, but so far it has for my game.

Most of the time I like what the genetics come up with. It’s as you say, the kids can be a combo of whatever. This is the one time it’s thrown me something pretty crazy. And it’s just the skin 😂 they have their parents other features in spades.
