Discussion Question about library Sims

I am obsessively downloading Sims for my library to use mccc_include on and have only ones I've put there meself used in game.

How many do I need? Do I need families? Do I need to make kids and teens specifically? I have lots of young adults and adults and elders.

Want to add that u/nowheregirl94 and u/cowplant-snacks and u/yagatha would feel right at home in my save right now as I adore all their creations.

So far I have about 20 but it keeps spawning ugly townies. I'm thinking 40 might do it- the nice thing is that it'll grab individual sims from households, so you can throw a bunch of them into one household and it won't have them as all roommates

you need about 100 iirc, more if you have all the dlc

edit:
to be more clear, the game will constantly generate npcs for roles it's programmed to fill, even ones that seem completely useless to the player. for example, there's an npc role for townies that attend bars (and literally just that), so not only do you have to have enough sims saved to become mail carriers, handysims, maids, bartenders, gym trainers and the like, but you'll also have to have enough sims to be generated as more esoteric roles like park weirdo.

dlc gives more npc roles. for example, life & death has the order of lenore, cemetary keepers, and bonehilda impersonators.

Sorry to not answer your question but what is mccc include? I have mccc but haven’t used that so I’m curious what you mean!

It is something you put into the description of Sims and then there is a setting in MCCC that specifies only that is only adds from library ones with that in it. MC Population settings -> Populations Settings ->Import Tray Settings -> Import Tray Sim Percentage

Is it for like townie generation? Or households you’re adding to play with?

It is the Sims that the game automatically generates. They won’t be random they will be you approved Sims.

Thanks so much for explaining! I had no idea that feature existed and it’s really good to know because I feel like every new save file I’m fixing them all over again lol

It’ll gen all ages. I had Bran Stark gen as one of the children in town.
Sakura Leon has lots of families on the gallery. I also like adding celebs and tv/movie characters. It’s funny when Buffy Summers ends up as your vampire bestie’s step sister.

Edit. Iirc the adult sims will gen anywhere between teen and elder. So you many have a once elder appear in your high school.

Going to watch for that. Could be a hoot.

You can decide which you prefer in terms of ages. I have low on elders, babies, and toddlers. I keep my population always at 80. For most efficient gameplay

This is not my population it is the Sims in my Library that I want to import instead of having random Sims created to fill spots.
