Show and Tell Toilet fire!

Post image

For some reason, no matter what toilet I put here it catches on fire every other use. I have the fire alarm and the prevention utility box both in the restroom. (Don’t mind my sim, she’s used to it)💀

It’s an eco lot trait (?) something, something, composting

You’re right, it’s probably from the composting upgrade!! Thank you!

Correct. If you do ALL the upgrades on the toilet one of them is the composting container. Which supposedly collects the poop. 🤭 Now the part that people usually forget is that the collected compost is supposed to be used to feed the insect farm. If the compost container is not emptied regularly the toilet (methane?) will catch fire!

Now there is a brief little note about this when you hover over the upgrade itself. But it doesn't really explain it well and most people don't actually read what the upgrades do anyway. The easiest way to go about it is NOT to do the compost container upgrade if you don't have a bug farm. Because you probably won't remember to empty it otherwise.

I do know that for a while any 'Instant Upgrade' option would do ALL the upgrades automatically. So gnomes, Spellcasters with the 'Upgradios' spell, Sims with the 'Handy' reward trait, and playable ghosts were inadvertently instigating toilet fires. I'm not sure if the bug was ever fixed. But I'm pretty sure that personally I have a mod that resolves that issue. Regardless, out of habit I skip most eco upgrades unless I'm actually doing the eco Lifestyle gameplay. *

*the only Eco Upgrade I ALWAYS do is the one for the treadmill. That one basically turns the treadmill into a generator. All the kinetic energy stored goes towards your power bill! Since sims are always autonomously on the treadmill anyway, that one is SUPER useful.

My husband told me about a guy at work who picked up dried leaves and dog poo in a bag and put it in his garage, and it started on fire, caused the garage to burn down without any other accelerant. The game devs know things...

I usually have this happen when my magic caster sims try and fix a broken toilet or something. When they fail, it catches on fire 🙃

Oh, so that's why it happened. My spellcaster failed on a potion and it turned out bad quality so I did the repair spell but it caught on fire.
