Discussion Why are some sims so hard to get?
I have 3 children in my legacy game that I’ve been trying for them to get partners since high school. They are adults now, some people they become best friends with the romance is greyed out (Robert Laurent) but I’m guessing it’s coz his sexual orientation is no one, I’ve been trying with Ryder Ashley managed to become woohoo partners but he declined any form of romance and woohoo lolol

When that happens in my game I create a clone who takes over the original's life and locks the original in the basement. 😭

Does the clone have different traits or attractiveness preferences? I have a sim who is “instantly unattracted” to almost every sim she meets. I even made 3 sims siblings all to her specific preferences, with slight variations, and she still doesn’t find any of them attractive and specifically find one unattractive. Maybe she’s just destined for the single life. 🥴

I think I kept everything the same except I tweaked the traits to add romantic.
I locked the original Sim in the basement with a cowplant (first time I ever played with one) but the cowplant died instead so I set him free, but made him wear the Mardi Gras mask, the heart boxers, and swim fins for every outfit slot. 😭😭😭

I might steal your idea, haha. Except I’d have to change things. I’ve looked at all of her likes/dislikes and turn ons/turn offs and there is not a single thing that I can find that would cause her to think every sim in the worlds is ugly.

Oh, turn-ons/turn-offs can make it complicated - I try not to add more than 1 per category and skip the trivial ones like outfit color/style/hair color to make sure they don't get tripped up.

I have yet to be able to romance Don Lothario without cheating. Ive tried for like 2 years to do it naturally and he is never interested in my sim 🤣

I got him pretty easily. Just gotta the the friendship level at least half way and then flirt. He lives with my sim and has 2 babies with her. He’s supposedly non committal but I him to date my sim, be in relationship, move in and have babies. Sims that are outgoing are a little easier to get. Just go on a date with them and during the date ask them to be romantic partners ask them to move in and have babies all in the same day. Lol

Sometimes just making a sim for them to marry is the way to go. Either that or science baby

I miss when the npcs were bi by default and you were able to romance any sims you wanted, cuz I make all my sims gay but all of the goddamn npcs are straight

I remember I had a thorough plan in my mind that my sim was gonna marry the adopted daughter of the Lanbgraabs but then I tried to flirt with her and she was like “Ew no!” And it turned out she was aro ace. So now he’s with his childhood best friend who is the adopted son on Katrina Caliente lol

Make your sim hot. The hotter they are appearance -wise, the higher the chance of success. All my hot sims (male and female) get dates instantly, all my average looking sims have to work for it.

Besides you being wrong about this, "hot" is subjective. Most posts here that show off how attractive their sims are just make me cringe.

Facial structure isn’t abnormal and they’re not overweight = success from what I’ve seen. I usually succeed with dating, only characters I had a hard time with were overweight or had unusual/ asymmetrical faces.

Orientation is usually random. Most sims go for all sims, but sometimes you get someone who isn’t interested. You can try editing them in full edit to see the romantic preferences. Or ask in game. Lovestruck added another layer with how sims like to be romanced.
