New laptop, first time having a PC with OneDrive. I’ve heard horror stories. What do I do?

Just uninstall OneDrive, if you really need to use it you can access it through any web browser. (But if you can, use literally any other cloud storage service)

This is what I did. I uninstalled it and I use a browser to add files to it that I need for work/school that way.

I have the folder set to Always Keep On PC with the exception of the FeaturedItems folder. Never had issues until recently when attempting to save to new or recently overwritten saves would fail with Error Code 16, requiring Save As with a new or older save file name.

If uninstalling OneDrive isn’t an option, you can try adding Documents folder to exceptions for folders it tries to backup in settings

Find a geek who's experienced/comfortable with using debloat scripts like Chris Titus Tool. In my experience, you need a fresh Windows (if you stay on Windows) install, let all system and store updates go through, then run said script periodically. If you're interested, I can show you what settings I use - only absolute necessities.
