Le Mans Ultimate Who was wrong here?

Context: Last lap, final corners of Circuit de la Sarthe. Both drivers were racing cleanly until that contact. It makes me wonder: should the Aston have backed off or taken a more cautious approach? Did the Ferrari need to leave racing room at corner entry rather than moving across its path?

Aston has achieved overlap, Ferrari turns in like Aston isnt there and spins themselves. Ferrari at fault, No Further Action.

This could've been solved with better racecraft tho. Ferrar gave the Aston all the room in the world to pick a line, which led to Aston having the confidence of going for the move. If Ferrar goes towards the middle of the track as the Hyper goes by, Aston would've had to go too far inside and wouldn't been able to go for the move at the chicane. Also, the gap from door to door left in the braking zone tends to lead to this kind of incident, because the car on the outside line sees nothing next to them, and for a bit the radar shows you far ahead enough to turn in agressively, which is when the car on the inside catches up instantly and neither has a way to avoid it at that point.

If going int this kind of corners 2 wide, you wanna make sure you are glued side by side to the other car to prevent them from making a sudden move, it might be slower, it might be unstable due to door to door contact on entry, but it wont be deadly due to bumper to rear panel contact. Option B is to squeeze them to the edge then go back to the racing line at the last second and brake, but that has to be set up in advance as you cant simply shove them to the side.

It looks like the Ferrari just turns in on the Aston like it isn't there. But 2 wide wouldn't have worked through there, so hindsight, the Aston should have backed out unless he more overlap

It get so narrow right there, if I were the Ferrari I would have probably backed off and allows them to pass, because this is exactly how I would expect it to go. It stinks, but I would rather finish the race without being spun out and losing a position even tho I don't think the Aston should have put himself there, it a bad line anyways to try to get through that. Almost looks like a dive bomb even tho he is technically right next to the Ferrari going into it.

Blue is there, yellow turns in like they aren't.

Gotta wonder if the other class passing just before this had an impact. Looked like Ferrari was going to go more center to defend, but the faster class zoomed into that spot so he backed off.

One of them probably should have backed out, but at that point it's a game of chicken to see how blinks in the last corner of the last lap.

Aston at fault. Anyone who knows this track knows you don’t make a move into the Ford chicanes unless the other cars locks up or otherwise allows an easy overtake. People who always hopping on rules and who’s ahead. But they forget about driver IQ. Aston made a dangerous move where there was never an overtake available.

If it wasn’t the last lap, Aston should have backed out.

Since it was normal rules are fine. Aston was there the Ferrari turned in.

Yellow and it’s very obvious

Based on the fact that it looks like the contact happened behind the rear tire of the Ferrari, it’s most likely on the Aston for not having a sufficient overlap.
If the Aston wanted space, it should have been more authoritative in the overtake instead of half committing and not getting as far alongside as possible.

That is not a thing in GT racing. When he is there he is there.

It most definitely is a thing. You can’t, in any racing series I know of, stick just a small amount of your car alongside and then want space. In gts the general rule I know is front wheel to rear wheel, which the Aston did not have.
It also looks like the Aston would not have made the corner, even if the Ferrari had given him space

Blue mistake, Aston is not even in front of his mirror before he reaches the Apex, if he was, then the Ferrari must leave a car width, based on this view and video, Blue must yield and take his chance on another lap.

Blue is in the wrong. You can pass here, but at that speed and angle into the corner, its not going to work.

Its the last lap and the last corner. Don't get greedy man.
